Note 4 Can’t Send Or Receive Text Messages
Problem: Can not send or receive texts on either go sms text app or the default android message app. I also can not access the messages settings in the application settings menu. The phone randomly reboots for no reason and acts like it has lag when trying to use other apps. Lastly it seems to be running very hot and using a ton of power, draining the battery quickly.
Solution: It looks like this could be a software related problem already since it not only affects the messaging app but the overall performance of the device. You will need to wipe the cache partition of your phone first from the recovery mode then check if this resolves the problem. If it doesn’t then backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Note 4 Can’t Send Picture Messages
Problem: I originally bought my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 from T-mobile, but then I asked for the unlock code, and switched to Cricket Wireless service. Since then I can’t send any Picture Messages, I took the phone to Cricket and the rep did a couple troubleshooting, but then told me the issue has nothing to do with their end, to contact samsung support for assistance, when call samsung all the guy told me is that my phone is not under warranty anymore and to take to a best buy to see if some issue with the software. Any idea what is causing this and what I should do? I feel like they’re giving me the run around.
Solution: If this phone is originally a T-Mobile phone then there’s a chance that the APN settings have not been changed yet. These settings are needed for you to be able to send and receive picture messages and to access your mobile data subscription.
Try to check the APN settings of your phone and make sure that it matches the one used by Cricket Wireless Service. If necessary, change the APN settings of your device.
- Name: Internet
- APN: ndo
- MMSC: https://mmsc.aiowireless.net
- MMS proxy: proxy.aiowireless.net
- MMS port: 80
- MCC: 310
- MNC: 150
- Authentication Type: PAP
- APN type: default,mms,fota,hipri,supl
- APN protocol: IPv4
Take note that when you sending a picture message you will need an active mobile data subscription. The mobile data switch of your phone should also be turned on.
Note 4 Cannot Attach Photos To Text Messages
Problem: can not attach photos to messages. I clear the messaging cache, clear the phone cache through the vol+home+power key combo. I have even reset to factory settings. This works temporarily (about 2-3 weeks) and then goes back to giving me the unable to attach file error. It says photos are too large and starts compressing prior to error message. I’ve cleared most of my apps except Samsung bloatware. The only other thing to mention is before this started happening, I got the date time out update error message and my phone completely froze. I had to take battery out to get it to work. Since then, this has been a major problem. I frequently lose important photos because I factory reset before I have time to update. I believe it may be caused by a 3rd party app, but can not figure out which one.
Solution: If you think that a third party app is causing this problem then you can verify this by starting your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are disabled. If you are able to attach a photo in your message in this mode then the issue is most likely caused by a third party app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then proceed with checking if a new software update is available for your phone. If an update is available then I suggest you apply it to your device. These updates usually come with fixes that can resolve known issues.
If your phone is already running on the latest software update then I suggest you backup your phone data then do another round of factory reset. Once the reset is done try attaching a photo to your text message. Try getting the photo using the Gallery app. You also need to check if the issue occurs when you try to get the picture using the Google Photos app.
Note 4 Cannot Send Or Receive Picture Messages
Problem: I cannot send pictures at all nor receive any. I checked mobile data which is enabled, power saving and ultra power saving mode are disabled. I tried going into settings and trying to increase the capacity for the messages but I am unable to do so because there is no option to do so. I do not know if it is because my phone is an older model or a newer model! I cannot even blame it on my carrier which is Cricket Wireless because my previous phone Galaxy S4 used to decrease the size of the pictures and send them. The only difference is that S4 was sold by Cricket and my current phone is one I bought on the Net. It came unlocked so I could insert the Cricket SIM and use it. It works very well except in this one aspect of sending and receiving pictures on MMS. Any and all help and guidance in this matter will be appreciated.
Solution: Since you bought this phone in the net there’s a chance that the APN settings have not been configured yet. We have addressed a similar problem above. All you need to do is to check your phone’s APN setting and make sure that it matches the one used by Cricket. Try to check the settings which I have provided in the issue I addressed above and see if it matches the one on your phone. Make the necessary setting changes in your device if needed.
Note 4 Does Not Show Text Message
Problem: My issue is that this stupid phone (out of the blue) up and decided to not show (save received) messages on the messaging app that came with this phone. I receive the notification that a message has come and can see it partially when I scroll down the stupid bar but when I click to read the whole message it acts as if nothing has been delivered. Same goes for when I send messages.. ppl receive it but my freaking phone wont show (save the message) what I sent. As if I needed another reason to go back freaking iphone.
Solution: It looks like the problem is caused by the messaging app. Try clearing the cache and data of this app from the application manager then check if the issue still occurs.
A third party app installed in your phone can also cause this kind of problem. To check if this is the case you need to start your phone in Safe Mode. Check if the problem occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If the above troubleshooting steps fail then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Note 4 Can’t Send Text Message To One Particular Person
Problem: There is one specific person on my phone with an at&t carrier who has not been getting my texts at all, and my calls won’t go through, I tried force stopping my apps, restarting my phone, taking the battery out, but they still don’t get my messages. Any idea what the problem could be?
Solution: Id the text message marked as sent in the messenger app of your phone ? If it is then the problem could be in the recipient’s end. It’s possible that your number may have been placed in the block list. Try to have the recipient check his or her phone if this is the case.
