Google scans six billion Android apps everyday for threats

#Google published a report on the state of #Android security last year. The Mountain View giant has published another report now, giving us an idea on how the malware threats on apps are being handled. The company claims that over 6 billion Android apps are scanned every day for threats and 400 million devices daily, which is a testament to Google’s stand on security.

Te company mentions that malware was only spotted in about 0.15% of devices that solely rely on the Play Store for apps. However, devices that use third-party app sources see the figure slightly increasing to 0.5%, which is still negligible considering the sheer amount of Android apps available out there.

Google has made tremendous inroads in the Android ecosystem with the addition of more granular controls and disk encryption with Marshmallow. All these measures go a long way in curbing the malware threats on devices, although the battle is not completely won yet.
