BlackBerry CEO confirms launch of two more Android handsets

BlackBerry Priv

The CEO of #BlackBerry, John Chen has mentioned that the company will release two more smartphones based on #Android this year. This comes on the heels of the company releasing the #Priv handset late last year to partial success. The handset was quick to sell out from most retailers although the sales have predictably come down a bit.

Chen has mentioned that the upcoming Android handsets will be priced in the $300$400 price range, which is excellent news. It is further mentioned that one of these handsets will be similar to the Priv, in that it will have a touchscreen display as well a physical keyboard, while the other will be a full blown touchscreen only offering.

By his own admission, the Priv was slightly overpriced at $699. So it seems like the decision to release two new mid-ranged offerings has been taken with that in mind. There’s no ETA as of yet, but it has been ascertained that both devices will be released by this year.
