Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint now offering free calls to Belgium

Belgium Attacks

In the wake of the ghastly terrorist attacks at Brussels, Belgium, carriers in the U.S. have now announced free calls and texts to Belgium starting today. Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint (including Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile) have made the announcements.

Sprint has mentioned that it will offer free texts and calls to Belgium through March 31. T-Mobile will offer free calls through the 25th of March, AT&T till the 28th and Verizon till the 23rd of March (tomorrow). The carriers might bill the customers of the charges, but will also make a mention of the credit on the bill.

This is a novel thing that the carriers have jointly done and will go a long way in keeping in touch with their friends and loved ones in Belgium. While we wish that some carriers offered the promotion for slightly longer, it’s a noteworthy gesture nevertheless. Some of these carriers are offering a similar service to Turkey which was also hit by a terrorist attack not too long ago.
