As mobile devices become more powerful they require a lot of power to keep them working. This is the reason why a modern smartphone only lasts more than a day on a full charge when compared to a feature phone that could work for a week before it needs to be charged again. The #Samsung #Galaxy #Note4 with its 3220mAh battery can easily provide around 28 hours of talk time on a single charge. Once the battery goes low all you need to do is charge the phone.
There are however instances when issues can happen when charging the device. This is what we will tackle today as we discuss the Galaxy Note 4 does not completely charge issue & other related problems.
If you own a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 or any other Android device for that matter then feel free to contact us using this form. Note 4 Does Not Completely Charge
Problem: I often cannot get my note 4 to charge past a certain point, whether fast charge is checked or not. It usually stays stuck on 54%. I think I’ve gotten it to charge to 100% maybe 3 times total and I just bought the phone brand new on 2-14-16 from Target. I’ve tried factory reset, soft reset, selecting cache partition, and deleting apps as well as disabling apps I don’t use. I prefer not to send the phone in as it’s my only phone. But for spending $500 I am extremely mad that it isn’t working properly. Battery doctor says my battery is in good condition and I’ve tried draining it before charging it with still no luck. Please help!!!
Solution: Since you already performed most of the troubleshooting steps targeting the software you should proceed with checking the hardware. Try cleaning the charging port of your phone. The presence of dirt or debris in this port can cause some charging issues which you want to avoid. Use a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol when cleaning the port.
Sometimes a defective charger can also cause this issue. Try charging your phone using a different charger and charging cord.
It’s also possible that a faulty battery is causing this issue. To check if this is the case you should try using a new battery on your device.
Note 4 Turns Off At 30% Battery Life
Problem: When my phone battery gets down to 30% or so it will turn off I can take the battery out and when it turns back on shows the screens as turning on gets to my lock screen and shuts back off. I had to leave the battery out for 45 min and it happened to turn back on last night. Then today it did it again once my battery got to 23% I took the battery out put it back in and it turned on powered on got to lock screen then shut off I had to plug my phone up to get it to turn on and stay on and my battery was still at 23%
Solution: Try to check first if this issue is caused by some form of corrupt data by wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This procedure deletes the temporary data in your device which if corrupt can cause this type of problem. Once done, check if the issue still occurs.
If the problem still persists then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This will revert your phone back to its original condition. Once the reset is done do not install anything in your phone yet. Instead, check and see if the issue still occurs.
If the above steps fail to resolve the issue then I suggest you try using a new battery on your phone.
Note 4 Shuts Down At 15% Battery Level
Problem: My phone is shutting down when it shows it’s at 15% battery. I go to plug in and before I can plug in the phone powers off. Once plugged in it then shows a charge of 0%. Is there any way to troubleshoot the problem? Previously I was also having the no data as well, but it appears to be resolved.
Solution: There’s a chance that this issue could be caused by a faulty battery. Before getting a new battery try to check first if the issue is caused by a glitch in the phone software by performing the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This deletes the temporary data in your phone that could be the cause of the problem.
- Backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
If the above steps fail to solve the issue then it’s time to get a new battery.
Note 4 Battery Drains Too Fast
Problem: I bought this phone almost 1 years ago.. then suddenly the battery drained too fast especially when it drop to 15% remaining,it drop like 1% per 5 secs until off.. then it cant charged to full, only 72%,if you continue charging it,you must wait 20 hours to hit 100% with the condition the phone is on, if off,it can only to 72%.. please help me with this problems.. thanks for your concern.
Solution: It looks like the phone battery may already be weak and not able to hold its charge. Try getting a new battery and see if this works.
While waiting for your new battery you can also try to wipe the cache partition of your phone and do a factory reset to check if the issue is caused by a problem with the phone software. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing this.
Note 4 Not Fast Charging
Problem: So I am having a problem with my fast charging, it says that it is fast charging but it is not. Any charger that I plug into my note 4 says that it is fast charging. Even tho they are .5amp or 1amp charger. I have tried 3 different fast charger bricks as well as 3 different USB cables. I’m not sure what to do. I have wiped the cache partition, checked for updates, as well as doing a soft reset. This is my 2nd note 4 and I just got it about a week ago. The charger is extremely slow…… PLEASE HELP!!
Solution: It appears that the phone can’t properly recognize the charger connected to it. This could be a software related issue. Try to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is done do not install anything in your phone yet. Instead, check and see if the issue still occurs.
If the problem still occurs try to check the charging port of your phone for any signs of dirt or debris. Clean the port if necessary using a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol.
If you have access to another battery then try to use it in your phone and see if the same issue occurs.
If the above steps fail then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
Note 4 Does Not Turn On
Problem: phone was working properly, plugged it in to charge for the night. when i woke up it had powered off and will not turn back on. i have replaced the battery thinking the battery was bad. i have tried everything to get it to power on. i have tried charging it with the new battery, all the trouble shooting ideas on your help page and nothing has worked… PLEASE HELP!!!
Solution: If you have already tried performing our recommended troubleshooting steps for this type of problem then this may already be a hardware related issue possibly caused by a damaged power IC. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
Note 4 Does Not Charge
Problem: Sometimes when my phones battery gets low (15% for example) i plug in the charger and i see that instead of charging, the battery drops to 14%. I unplug the charger and it becomes 13%. I keep repeating this until the phone dies and i let it charge on its own while its off. But i’ve realised that if the phone dies, and then the battery is removed and replaced again, the charge goes to something around 17%. I have also realised that when the issue of discharging while the charger is connected happens, restarting the phone can solve the issue but most of the times the battery drops to 0% and the phone turns off again.
Solution: What you should do in this case is to first check if the issue is caused by the charger. Use a different charger and charging cord when charging your phone. Make sure to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol before charging.
Sometimes , a software issue can cause this kind of problem. To check if this is the case you should backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
Finally, if the above steps fail I suggest you try to use a new battery.
