Xiaomi’s #Mi5 smartphone has created major ripples in the mobile industry since it was unveiled a few days ago. However, the company made it clear that the device would not be reaching North American shores, not officially at least. But it seems like the company is hopeful that a number of Americans catch hold of the handset as it comes with all major 18 LTE bands, including the ones that support AT&T and T-Mobile in the U.S.
The handset supports Bands 2, 4, 5, and the essential band 17 for AT&T as well as Band 2 and the essential band 4 and 12 for T-Mobile. Here’s the complete list of bands that the Xiaomi Mi 5 supports – LTE bands – 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 7 / 8 / 12 / 13 / 17 / 18 / 19 / 20 / 25 / 26 / 27 / 28 / 29.
This is quite an interesting revelation and tells us that Xiaomi is seriously considering breaching the American market, albeit unofficially. What this basically means is that if you were to import the Xiaomi Mi 5 to the U.S. when it is made available, you should have no trouble accessing LTE networks on any of the major GSM networks in the country.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to be released in China on the 1st of March, so users should be able to order a unit right after that.
