Sony Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact now available in the U.S.

Xperia Z5

#Sony is officially launching the #XperiaZ5 and the Z5 Compact in the U.S. today, just as we reported a few weeks ago. The smartphone sold in the States lacks the fingerprint scanner though, which is a surprise as this was one of the highlight features of the Z5 lineup when it was revealed in Q3 2015. The two handsets share the rest of the hardware specifications with the international models.

This includes the 23-megapixel + 5-megapixel camera combo as well as the octa core Snapdragon 810 chipset. The smaller Z5 Compact is retailing for $499.99 while the Xperia Z5 is sold for $599.99 from the retailer. The prices are quite reasonable considering the hardware on offer, although the omission of the fingerprint scanner might hold back some fans.

Sony hasn’t tied up with a carrier for the two devices, while the release of the 4K display toting Xperia Z5 Premium hangs in a balance. However, we hope to get more clarity on both aspects over the coming weeks.
