S5 Software Update Interrupted

Problem: I have attempted to update to 5.1 for months but it won’t update.  I have wiped my device and reset it back up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I have 6.12GB of internal storage available and 56.48 available on my external card. Below you will find my error message:  Software Update Interrupted. No update is available for your device at this time.  Please try again in 24 hours

Related Problem: I continue to receive software update notifications on my phone. when i go to download and install the “update,” my phone will restart and when it turns back on i get the message that the update is interrupted and cannot continue. when i check for updates again afterwards, it says my phone is up to date. I am unable to download the new software for my phone.

Solution: This is a common issue among S5 owners on the AT&T network who are attempting to upgrade their device to Android Lollipop 5.1. In most cases the problem is caused by insufficient internal storage space on the device ( the microSD card storage space does not count). AT&T suggests that at least 7GB of internal storage space be made available to successfully update the device.

Try freeing up some storage space in your phone by wiping the cache partition of your device from the recovery mode. Uninstalling apps, such as games, will also free up some space in your device. One final troubleshooting step that you should consider is a factory reset. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing this.

If the problem still persists at this point then bring your phone to the nearest AT&T DSC or Best Buy Samsung location.

S5 Does Not Start After Interrupted Software Update

Problem: I am using Galaxy S5 mini. Yesterday, while I was chatting with some friends on whatsapp, I got a system notification saying “New software update available. Click to install”.  Having read that, I proceeded into approving the update but unfortunately I used mobile data & I had less than a 100mb in my bundle so, when I did, my phone just did an automatic short shut down. I didn’t understand why. Now it can’t boot up. Every time I press the power button, the Samsung S5 Mini logo animation appears & then it shows me the green Android robot with the progress status of the installation of the new update. It installs up to 93% &  stops with a warning message “Error” & then it starts again all over again & repeats the same thing. I tried to execute hard reset but I couldn’t access the factory reset menu either. I’m totally locked out. I can on access the OS download mode when I click Power butt + volume Down +home button. But the problem is I can’t download since I’m offline. Therefore I totally feel hopeless. If there’s a way to get around this by restoring its stock firmware using a pc app, please give me a step by step working guide on how to reset & restore my phone’s original firmware. Your help will be very much appreciated. Thank you

Solution: If you can’t access the recovery mode then the device could already be bricked. The best solution right now is to flash your phone with its original firmware. You will need a copy of your phone firmware file as well as the latest version of Odin installed in your computer. Instructions on how to do this procedure can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.

S5 Fails To Install Software Update

Problem: My phone downloads the software update, and when it restarts to install it says it failed. I’ve tried this three times so far, same thing happened every time. I also cleared all the cache from my phone and took out the battery and restarted my phone. I have 3.12 gb of free space.

Solution: If you are downloading the latest software update then you need at least 7GB of free internal storage space. Try to free up more storage space by uninstalling apps, especially games since they take up a lot of storage space. You should also consider backing up your phone data then doing a factory reset before doing the software update.

S5 Not Downloading Apps Or Software Update

Problem: Hello! Alright my problem is that I’ve had this phone for a year now, and in that year I have never ever been able to download anything whatsoever without wifi. All of my phones I’ve had have been on straight talk, this is my fourth phone and its the only one to have given me problem. I bought an AT&T Galaxy S5 and when I put my SD card in and changed the apn setting like I was supposed. In the corner is still says AT&T and it will not let me download apps (without wifi) or download any of the newer software(with wifi). I really hope you can help me because I love my phone and don’t plan on getting a new one anytime soon.

Solution: There are two issues that needs to be resolved with your device. First the mobile data is not working and second you are unable to download any software updates.

For the first issue you should make sure that the APN setting of your phone is set to that of your carrier which is Straight Talk. You should also make sure that you have an active mobile data subscription and that your mobile data switch is turned on. If your phone meets all these requirements and you still can’t access the mobile data then I suggest you contact Straight Talk as this may already be an account related issue.

Regarding the software update issue that you are having you can only get the update if you are using an AT&T SIM since this is an AT&T device. What happens is that the phone will check for the update on the AT&T servers and for it to be able to do this an AT&T SIM is required. You can try to connect your phone to a computer with Kies or Smart Switch running and check if the update can be made using the software.

S5 Updating Contact List After Software Update

Problem: I just recently downloaded the new software and once the software was downloaded, it is taking forever to load my contacts. All it says is updating contact list. I saw that other people had the same issue I tried my best to do it and still the same issue is occurring.

Solution: Try turning the of our phone sync off the restart your phone. To do this just swipe down from the top screen using two fingers. From quick settings make sure to turn off sync. Restart your phone. If the issue still occurs after the restart then I suggest you wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. Once everything is back to normal you can now go ahead and turn on the master sync.

S5 New Software Update Fails To Install

Problem: Impossibly slow while changing between tabs, apps, and settings. Touchwiz home crashes every time I am in an app more than 5 minutes. Frequent complete crashes to lock screen. Android keyboard failed, have to restart phone to restart. New software update tries to install then fails. I have plenty of room (6gb internal) and I’m always on wifi and plugged into the charger.

Solution: I suggest you backup your phone data first then do a factory reset. This will resolve the crashing issue and free up some internal storage space needed for the software update ( minimum of 7GB).
