S4 Not Able To Send Text Messages
Problem: I recently switched from Verizon to Tmobile and brought my unlocked Samsung Galaxy S4 over to T-mobile. I am not able to send text messages using the built in messaging app, or any other downloaded text app like Textra. I read through your other posts on dialing #*#4636#*#* and updating the messaging center number. However when i dialed #*#4636#*#* it did not do anything. Is there another way to access the messaging center number so i can attempt to update it and hopefully have my outgoing text messaging working again?
Related Problem: Verizon phone recently moved to t-mobile. Cannot send text messages. T-Mobile says it’s the phone and says to try a third party app. Any ideas?
Related Problem: It is an unlocked verizon phone that has been working fine on ultramobile for the past several months. Since this morning it doesn’t send text messages – can still receive. Gives the above error message. In the past every time I turned the power off and on again it would not send texts for about an hour and then it would be okay. This time however it quit sending on its own. I did not even turn it off. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Related Problem: I have an unlocked Verizon galaxy s4 and am trying to use it on walmart family mobile network. I can receive and make calls. The problem is I cannot send text messages or get internet when I don’t have wifi. I have changed my APN settings to the following
APN TYPE: Internet+MMS
Eventually I did a soft reset , this did not change anything. Network mode is Global, & mobile data is checked on. Android version 5.0.1. Please Help, I really need to use this new phone I got for christmas . Thank you in Advance!
Solution: This problem which has become quite popular recently as more of our readers are experiencing it seems to be caused by a phone setting issue. Since this is a Verizon device it is very likely that the message center number has been greyed out. Nevertheless, you should try to check if you can change this message center number to the number your current carrier is using. Another thing that needs to be checked is the APN settings of the phone. Same as usual, since this is a Verizon phone it is also very likely to be greyed out. However, if you can edit this setting make sure that it corresponds to what your network is using. You should also check the message sending issue when the network mode is set to Global, LTE, and GSM.
One of our readers who uses this phone on the T-Mobile network says that he needs to contact T-Mobile to send a signal to reprovision the phone to resolve the issue. This is a temporary solution though as it needs to be done everytime the phone undergoes a reboot.
One troubleshooting step you should consider is to borrow a Verizon SIM from someone you know and update the phone software. The updated software could come with a fix to this issue.
S4 Takes Too Long To Send Text Message
Problem: Hi I have been having problems sending texts. Every time I do the loading circle pops up and spins for about 15 to an hour before sending. Sometimes the person I’m sending it to will acknowledge it has been sent but the spinning circle still appears. It also has a problem receiving them. It’s late just Nat as late as sending. The things I have tried are taking out my sim card, clearing data cache, and restarting my phone. I would appreciate it if you can help me fix this, thanks
Solution: Before troubleshooting make sure that you are in an area with good signal reception. If the signal is low then this could cause issues with sending text messages.
One factor that could cause this problem is a corrupt temporary data. Since you have already cleared the cache and data of the messaging app I suggest you proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. If the problem still occurs then backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S4 Sending Receiving Text Messages Takes Too Long
Problem: My issue is that whenever I send a text it can take up to 30 mins to send and it takes about that long to get one I have had to resort to an app plz help I have straight talk I have the at&t card in and i live in Arizona plz help
Solution: Have you checked the signal strength that your phone is getting in your area? If the signal is weak then this could be the reason why you are having a problem sending and receiving text messages.
If the signal is great then try to get rid of the temporary data of your phone first. To do this just clear the cache and data of the messaging app. You should also follow this up by wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. Restart your phone then check if the issue still occurs.
Another factor that can cause this problem is an app you installed in your phone. To check if this is the case just start your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. Apps you downloaded are prevented from running. See if you can send or receive text messages in this mode without any issues. If the problem does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If the above troubleshooting steps fail then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S4 Text Message No Notification
Problem: The notifications from my texting in my phone has stopped working, randomly. All the settings they’re set to the right thing. I also installed a Google texting app and it wouldn’t show any notifications either. I have installed a virus removed app and it did remove a virus but still no change. I have even factory reset my phone, still no change. The app hangouts is the only thing that will show the notifications.
Solution: If this issue still occurs even after a factory reset then this could be an issue with the phone software. Is your phone still running on its stock software or is it running on a custom software? If your phone is running on a custom software then try reverting it to its stock software.
If your phone is running on stock software then try to check if it is the latest version. Update your phone software if necessary.
S4 Not Getting Text Message From One Number
Problem: Hi. I am not receiving text messages from someone I want them from and have been getting. I can send messages to them but I don’t get theirs. I continue to receive texts from other numbers. I don’t know how to fix this… Please help… Thank You in Advance!
Solution: Try to check if you have accidentally placed the number in the block or restricted list.
- From the Home screen tap Messaging.
- Tap Menu > Settings
- Go to Spam Settings
From here you can check if you have blocked that particular number.
