When your smartphone is about to run out of power the first thing that you will do is look for its charger and charge the device. Normally it would take around 3-4 hours to charge a phone however with the release of fast chargers this amount of time can be reduced significantly. The #Samsung Galaxy #Note4 for example uses a fast charger which allows the phone to be charged from 0% to 50% in just 30 minutes. Several of our readers however have an issue using the fast charger of their phone which is what we will tackle today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will deal with the Galaxy Note 4 won’t fast charge issue & other related problems.

Note 4 Won’t Fast Charge
Problem: WHEN I PLUG MY FAST CHARGING CORD IN IT WON’T FAST CHARGE . I HAVE TO CONTINUOUSLY UNPLUG AND PLUG IN THE CORD UNTIL THE LITTLE STATUS BAR COMES UP SAYING “FAST CHARGER CONNECTED ” ONCE THAT COMES UP MY CORD END THAT I PLUG INTO THE PHONE ITSELF BECOMES SO HOT I CANNOT EVEN TOUCH IT.
Solution: There’s a possibility that the charging cord that you are using has a problem. This usually happens when the cord is constantly bent or coiled which causes the wires inside to come loose or get disconnected. I suggest you try to replace this cord with a new one. If possible use a Samsung branded cord. Another factor that you should look into is the dirt or debris that may be present in the charging port of your phone. This usually interferes with the charging process and can affect the fast charging feature of the phone as well. If necessary clean this port using a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol.
Note 4 Fast Charge Feature Not Working
Problem: I gave my wife my Note 4 after upgrading to the Note 5. Exactly 1 day later it ceased to allow the fast charge feature to be used. It charges fine at a slow rate and connects well. I have wiped it, tried different kernels and roms to no avail. So I decided to try and odin the stock firmware, but it no longer accepts usb connections to the computer. Everything tells me its a hardware issue, but I’d like to be sure as I have already replaced the charging port. Thanks and keep up the great work!
Solution: If you have already tried using different USB cords in connecting your phone to a computer and it isn’t recognized then it’s probably a hardware issue already. Try to check the phone with another computer as well just to make sure.
Note 4 Won’t Charge
Problem: My phone won’t charge. It’s completely dead. I tried the soft reset. I changed cords, I did the USB lift, I blew out the USB port. When I connect my phone to any charger, the battery icon appears on the screen, but not the LED indicator. The icon will stay on the screen for a few seconds and then cut off and reappear as if I pulled the charger out and just plugged the charger in. It will do this loop constantly until I unplug the charger. Also while the charger is in I tried a manual reboot with the volume and power key. The phone will boot up and die immediately when it gets to the home screen. My phone will also not power on just by pressing the power button while the charger is in.
Solution: Try using a different battery in your phone ( preferably a new one) to check if the issue is caused by a weak battery. If the issue remains then check if you can access the recovery mode of the phone. If you are able to start the phone in this mode then I suggest you immediately do a factory reset from here. Take note that this will delete your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy prior to performing this procedure.
If at this point the issue still persists then this could already be a hardware related problem. Bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
Note 4 Switches Off Automatically
Problem: This trouble started a few days earlier. My note 4 is around 9 months old. Since the last few days my phone has switching off automatically. Whenever I try to restart it it gets stuck at the samsung logo and restarts again getting stuck at the logo screen. This process continues. Only when I connect to my charger it restarts. After removing charger it works fine for 3-4 hours then again switches off. Is it a hardware or software related problem? Any sort of help would be wonderful since it is a very expensive handset.
Solution: This is one of the issues that some smartphone owners will usually experience. Sometimes this is called a boot loop issue since the device is incompletely starting in a loop. To troubleshoot this problem you need to take out the battery and the microSD card ( if your phone has one installed) then press and hold the power button for at least a minute. What this does is it discharges your phone circuit and clears out the RAM. Reinsert just the battery then turn on your phone.
In case the issue still persists then you should first backup your phone data. Once this has been done do a factory reset. You can either do this from the recovery mode or from the phone settings.
Note 4 Does Not Start After Downloading Software Update
Problem: I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 SM-N910T. N910TUVU1ANIH HW Rev 1.1 10/15/2014. Recently T-Mobile did an OTA upgrade to 5.1.1 shortly thereafter I started having major issues with it. Random reboots. Frequently seeing the “Downloading do not turn off target” error screen repeatedly, sometimes booting up sometimes not. I talked to T-Mobile who suggested I backup my data and try resetting the phone, so I started to do that. As Helium and other tools didn’t backup all the data due to some apps not wanting me to, I was still in the middle of that process and hadn’t yet tried resetting or anything. I put my phone down one night and went to bed. When I woke up the phone wouldn’t turn back on. Nothing I’ve done has helped. I’ve tried all the various resetting tricks with the various button combinations, taking the battery out, taking the sim card and the sd card out, etc. I have an external samsung battery charger and two batteries so I know it’s not the battery. I have multiple samsung OEM USB cables, so I know it’s not that. No matter what I do I get no response from the screen and I do not get any of the vibrating bootup response from the power button. So there are no signs of life and nothing about it makes any sense to me. It hasn’t gotten wet but just incase I did try to do the rice drying trick just incase something happened to it when I was asleep. ****Here’s the only sign of life: when I plug the phone into the computer (Windows 10 at the moment) it registers the device as QHSUSB_BULK *****. I got SkipSoft and donated for Pro for the Galaxy Note 4 so I would have a variety of tools that are easy to use. But from everything I read it seems like I need to be able to turn on the phone to use the Odin tool. I also downloaded other tools. Read lots of webpages on the subject, tried talking to a few people in various IRC channels, etc. etc. etc. I’m fairly tech savvy but not terribly smartphone savvy (this is only my second.) This is … exceedingly frustrating. Any suggestions? Thanks
Solution: When a device shows QHSUSB_BULK when connected to a computer it usually means that it is bricked. This could happen when the download and install process of the software update has been interrupted. Some owners of this device who have this same experience solved this issue by downloading a debrick image to the microSD card of the phone. Note 4 Randomly Restarts And goes To Boot Loop
Problem: My phone randomly restarts and will go into infinite boot loop unless I plug the phone in (even for just a few seconds). The issue can be replicated 100% of the time by opening up the camera app and taking a picture. However when plugged in, the camera can be used normally without causing a device reboot. The issue also happens more randomly when using the phone in other operations.
Things I have tried:
- Deleted apps
- Cleared Cache
- Removed SD Card
- FACTORY RESET — issue continues to occur even with zero apps downloaded. Issue also occurred on the new phone set up screen prior to signing into google, samsung, and connecting to wifi.
This leads me to believe it is not software related.
Solution: It’s possible that the issue is caused by a weak battery since you mentioned that the problem does not occur when you plug the phone to its charger. Try getting a new battery then check if the issue still persists.
