Note 4 Shuts Down On Its Own After Opening Apps

Problem: Recently my phone has been shutting down on its own whenever I try and open apps. I know there is not a problem with battery life, since this will happen at full charge sometimes. It will try to restart itself, then once on the red “verizon” screen shuts down again and attempts yet another restart. This continues endlessly unless I plug it in – it is only able to turn back on if on a charger, regardless of current charge. The apps that give me the most problems are skype and snapchat. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling them, to no avail. I cleared all cache data – problem still persisted. I even factory reset my phone and it didn’t help. At this point, my Note 4, which is meant to be a high functioning smart phone has been reduced to being able to handle nothing but text and calls. Is there anything I can do, or do I just need to wait until my contract expires to get a new phone?

Solution: Does the issue occur when your phone is connected to its wall charger? If it doesn’t then the most likely culprit is the battery. Try using a new battery and see if the issue still occurs.

Another factor to consider is the phone software itself. When you did a factory reset did you observe if the phone still shuts down? Make sure to check on this before installing any updates or apps on the phone. If the phone still  shuts down after a factory reset then the problem could already be caused by the phone software itself which has become corrupt.  You should consider flashing an updated stock firmware file to your device. Instructions on how to perform this procedure can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.

If flashing the phone software fails to resolve the problem then this issue could be caused by a faulty hardware. I suggest you have your phone checked at an authorized service center if this is the case.

Note 4 No Facebook Notifications

Problem: I just received this phone over the weekend, it already had the facebook app programmed into it so I just synced my info into it. Well I can’t see notifications, news feed, I can’t post anything etc. Also, I am even having trouble looking on the internet. It is giving me a security certificate pop up. I don’t know what else to try?

Solution: Make sure your phone is connected to a stable Internet connection. If possible try to connect to a different Wi-Fi network or use your mobile data connection to check if the current connection you are using has a problem.

Proceed with troubleshooting the Facebook app. Try clearing the cache and data of the app then uninstall it. Access the Google Play Store then download a fresh version of the app.

If the issue still occurs even after installing a new version of the app proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This deletes the temporary data in your phone that could be causing the problem.

If the above troubleshooting steps fail I suggest you backup your phone data and do a factory reset.

Note 4 Games Not Compatible With Device

Problem: I don’t know what my software is but it starts with a n910vvru2bog5 and my husband has the same phone as I do and his games are fine but on mine almost every game is saying that it’s not compatible with my device and it was working just fine before like the minion paradise I tried to get that and my husband has it and plays it just fine and it says mine isn’t compatible  please help me cause what’s the point to have a phone If it isn’t going to let me do nothing I want to. Thank you

Solution: You should start the troubleshooting by making sure that your phone is running on the latest software version. If it’s running on Android Lollipop then you should not have any issues running the games available at Google Play Store.

Next, I recommend that you wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This will take out the temporary data stored in your phone which could be causing the problem.

One last troubleshooting step you should consider is a factory reset. Take note that this will delete all of your phone data so make sure that you create a backup copy first.

Note 4 Camera App Crashes

Problem: I’m having issues with my camera and the app Snapchat.  Whether I’m using my regular camera or through Snapchat I get random crashes.  With Snapchat it has pretty much rendered the app unusable for me.  When it crashes I have to pull the battery to get the phone to turn back on.

Solution: The first thing you need to do in this case is to clear the cache and data of the camera and Snapchat app. If the problem still occurs then try connecting your phone to its wall charger then use the camera and Snapchat app. If the problem does not occur then it could be caused by a weak battery that can’t supply the needed voltage to power the camera. Try using a new battery and see if the problem still occurs.

If the issue still occurs even when connecting the phone to its wall charger then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the reset fails to resolve the problem then this could already be caused by a hardware issue. I suggest you have your phone checked at an authorized service center if this is the case.

Note 4 Can’t Run Wemo App

Problem: Trying to download the Wemo app from Google play store. Belkin insists that its compatible with Android 4.0 and higher. I’m running 5.0.1 and play store tells me that this version is not compatible with my phone. Is there something that would cause this? Other than Belkin not being honest about their compatibility?

Solution: If you check on some of the reviews left by some users who have tried the app it appears that it won’t install on Lollipop devices. If it does install on Lollipop devices, the app appears to be buggy.

You should however try to install the app after doing a factory reset on your phone. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing this.
