New update for the Verizon Galaxy Note 4 removes Amazon bloatware

Galaxy Note 4

Customers of the #VerizonWireless branded #Samsung #GalaxyNote4 are seeing an update on their smartphones. But before you get excited, there’s no Android 6.0 #Marshmallow on board here and the device remains on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. What it does bring though (or doesn’t bring) is Amazon’s suite of bloatware apps.

With this update, Verizon has decided to remove Amazon Appstore and Amazon Widgets from the Galaxy Note 4, bringing relief to several customers out there. It seems like the contractual agreement between Verizon and Amazon has ended, which explains the omission of the two services from the update. You will also see the usual suite of bug fixes and performance enhancements with the update on the Galaxy Note 4, so there’s more than one reason to be excited with this news.

The update should be rolling out over the air as of now and should hit all devices over the coming days. So if you haven’t seen it on your device yet, be assured that it’s on its way. But if you’re already seeing this particular update (build VRU2BPA1), make sure you let us know by dropping a comment below.
