The #Google #Nexus5X and the #Nexus6P are the company’s latest smartphones that are currently sold in the market. We recently heard that Google was removing all manufacturer branding from he Huawei Nexus 6P so as to make the device more of a Google product than a Huawei manufactured Google device.
A new report now talks about Google seeking deeper control within its Nexus lineup. We’re already aware that Nexus devices are pretty much designed in Google’s backyards. So by this new revelation Google could only mean that it would want to build something in-house, which has been rumored before.
It is said that Google CEO Sundar Pichai has mentioned this plan to “colleagues and outsiders”. We have already seen what Google can achieve with its own hardware (ex: the Pixel C tablet), so there’s no reason why the company couldn’t do something similar with the Nexus lineup somewhere down the line.
We must note however that this seems to be a long term plan, so it might not take effect right away. In any case, be prepared for a time when there’s a plain Google branded Nexus device with no third party OEM branding on top.
