More and more “leaks” are coming out for the awaited #Samsung #GalaxyS7 although there has never been an official word from the South Korean giant on the probable date of the product’s release. Well i bought my Galaxy S6 last May. It was working perfectly till 2 months ago. WhatsApp keeps freezing and force closing which annoys me relentlessly. I tried to fix it but no use. I always get the latest updates. I even tried clearing the updates and re-installing it since i can’t Uninstall and reinstall it. I sent several emails to WhatsApp support but no use. Everything they replied with i already done or didn’t solve the problem.
And one more thing, everytime i send a message via a broadcast list the phone freezes for a bit till message is sent to all on my list. while when i send it in a group no such issue occur. I am in your hands. Please help me. It’s my most important app in my phone. — Akram
Solution: Hi Akram. It should have been helpful for us if you detailed the things you’ve already tried. If WhatsApp developer team can’t help you fix the problem, we doubt that we can help you either. If WhatsApp was installed by default on your phone, Try booting it in safe mode to see if that will make any difference. If the issue fails to occur in this mode, uninstall apps until the issue is gone. For reference, these are the steps how to boot your S6 in safe mode:
- Press and hold the Volume Down and Power keys for 20 to 30 seconds.
- Once you see the Samsung logo, release the Power key immediately but continue pressing the Volume Down key.
- Your phone should continue booting up and you will be prompted to unlock your phone as usual.
- You will know if the phone successfully booted in safe mode if the text “Safe mode” is displayed at the lower-left corner of the screen.
Hi. I just recently traded my Samsung Galaxy S5 for a Samsung Galaxy S6 and noticed something weird with my calendar. After transferring all of my info from s5 calendar to my s6 calendar I noticed all my previous events (like birthdays, anniversaries, etc.) are now listed in green and it won’t give me the option to delete or edit them. I can make new events and edit those but the old events from my previous phone only give me the option to share them. I even tried clearing the cache and all data from my calendar in settings and restarting my phone but that didn’t help. What should I do? — Alex
Solution: Hi Alex. Looks like you don’t have the permission to edit the events. This may be a product bug that we’ve unheard of. If this issue is happening on your Google Calendar, please visit Google’s Calendar Forum page for more support.
Hi. This morning when I picked up the phone, it had the Samsung S6 boot logo with blue notification light switching on & off. I did not do anything special with phone the night before or in fact I have done nothing with the phone… I even disabled the OS updates. I have read your blog. I can not clear cache or anything as even the factory reset buttons press is not working. (power+home+volume up).
The only thing happened is booting in download mode. I do not know what is it but the Power+Volume Up+Home buttons work for boot in download mode.
If I keep the Power+Home+Volume button pressed, the phone will just keep restarting till the boot logo.
If switch off and put the phone in the charge, the empty battery image will appear but will remain grey and frozen. It will not show any charging progress dot moving, or the circle rotating as it would normally do in case of charging in progress.
Please help I am worried as I have not backup my phone data 🙁
Some people suggested online for other people that another battery might solve the problem. Many thanks. — Asim
Solution: Hi Asim. If the only boot sequence available for your phone right now is download mode, we’re afraid that those important files you have in there are already gone. There’s just nothing that we can do to access your data if the phone fails to boot normally. Try booting in safe mode (steps provided above) to see if it will work that way.
You can then try to flash an official firmware via download mode to see if your phone will boot normally afterwards.
Hi. I’m writing about my husband’s Android Samsung Galaxy S6. I’ve Googled and tired several scenarios and have had no luck so far – so I’m hoping you might have a suggestion.
We knew about 2 weeks ago that the power switch was bad. We did our best to keep from letting it discharge, and then when I got it to someone who could replace the switch – it miraculously started working. So we didn’t have the switch repaired.
Two days ago, his phone completely discharged / died – and the power button did not respond to turning it back on after charging it. I tried charging it over night – but since it was completely dead – it didn’t seem to charge (the red LED did not show).
The next day I started some tests. I found several YouTube videos that suggested methods of getting the phone to boot without the power button. None of them worked to boot the phone, and I believe that the phone doesn’t have just a power switch problem but a boot problem as well (maybe contributed by a faulty power switch?)
If I IMMEDIATELY press the volume down button and the home key, I get the option to either install a custom OS or restart the phone. I hit the volume down button and nothing happens.
Alternatively, I can not do anything (pressing buttons) when I do a battery pull – and I find that I get the Samsung splash screen, but then it doesn’t boot past that point.
It is the Verizon Model of the Galaxy S6. It has the latest updates on it.
Also, if I plug the phone into the computer, the computer does not recognize the phone as an attached device. I’ve disassembled the phone and gently blown air over the power button trying to clean it out. I’ve also investigate the charging port and made sure it was clean.
I’ve tried the power button slam. I’ve seen a few people mention taking the power button of the circuit board entirely – but I’m not sure if I want to do that… I mean, I have a engineering background so I could give it a go – but I’d like to know if there is anything else or other diagnostic tests I could perform before going drastic :).

Solution: Hi Crystal. Power or boot issues on Samsung devices can be caused by a few factors including faulty power button or circuit board. Unfortunately, just like you, there’s no way for us to know which one is the real cause. We can only give some advice on where to start, and you seem to be managing that well given the situation where you already tinkered with the hardware. We say you go ahead with power button replacement first to see if that will make any difference. We usually tell average users to let a professional handle hardware diagnostics but if power button replacement won’t help, you’ll have to do a series of hardware checks on things like the status of the battery connector, motherboard, daughterboard, among others.
Hello. I am using the email app that came with the S6 and using my Hotmail account. I can send and receive emails but when I go to my sent folder only some emails are there. I regularly close all the apps down and have performed numerous reboots. Also after closing the email app I go to open it and it takes me straight into an old email in my inbox (a different one every time). Can you provide any help with this?
I had Apple for 5 years and wanted a change but regret going to Samsung S6 as I must keep the phone in power saving mode as a full charge only lasts me 5 hours with normal usage. Yes I have turned power saving off but it still won’t retrieve the sent emails and I don’t play games on my phone. If I check my emails once an hour and make 1 phone call I lose 10% battery. Is this normal? The same usage on an iPhone 6 my battery would last all day.
In the morning I unplug my phone, check Instagram and Bleacher Report and make a 5-minute call and I’m down to 85% and that’s with power saving on. Only had the phone a month but sick of it already.
Also, music stops playing on its own sometimes and phone locks itself after 10 seconds sometimes even though I have set it for 1 min. Thank you. — Rick
Solution: Hi Rick. Looks like there’s a lot of issues going on in your phone right now. First off, the native email app only stores a fraction of your emails at one time, especially if you use IMAP setting. This means that not all emails, regardless of the folder (inbox, outbox, sent, etc) will be displayed on the phone. This is how the app and email services including Hotmail was designed to prevent using up precious flash memory storage space. For more product specific explanation about this, try to contact Microsoft support, or visit their Outlook forum page.
If you think the problem may be related to software, consider doing a factory reset.
Resetting an S5 to its factory settings is the fastest way to delete everything on the phone as well as a great troubleshooting step if you encounter an issue that may appear hard to resolve. As a precaution, please ensure that the battery has been fully charged and you have created a back-up copy of your data before you proceed. Here’s how it’s done:
- Power down the Galaxy S5.
- Press and hold the Volume up button, the Home button, and the Power button together until you see the Android on screen.
- Use Volume down to highlight the wipe data/factory reset option and press the Power button to select it.
- Use Volume down again to highlight Yes – delete all user data and press Power to select it.
- Use the Power button to select Reboot system now.
- When the S5 restarts it should be completely wiped and ready to set up again.
Factory reset may also fix the lock screen or music issues.
