First-gen NVIDIA Shield Tablet gets Android 6.0 update

Shield Tablet

The #NVIDIAShield Tablet has just received the #Android #Marshmallow update, after months of waiting. As you may know, the second gen Shield Tablet has already seen the update, but customers of the original 2014 model were left out. But it’s good to know that NVIDIA is finally doing something about it.

The update will arrive in the form of an OTA notification, but should also be available when you hit the Settings menu and navigate to the About Phone page. The changelog will reflect multiple changes as this is a massive OS upgrade. The company has supposedly added “optimized preloaded apps”, which can only mean good news for fans of the tablet.

Some other NVIDIA specific enhancements have also been made to the tablet, especially with the camera and the addition of some neat new wallpapers.

Are you seeing the update already? Let us know by dropping a comment below. If not, make sure you remain patient as an update should be on its way.
