Developer group behind Candy Crush acquired for $5.9 billion by Activision Blizzard

Candy Crush

#CandyCrush has become a global phenomenon and has brought in millions of dollars for the developers, King Digital. Seeing the potential in the firm, Activision Blizzard has decided to acquire the developer group for a resounding $5.9 billion. This effectively means that the game will be shown in the Play Store and other app hubs under the Activision Blizzard banner.

Going by the current trend, this seems like a wise acquisition by Activision Blizzard and could bring in a few million dollars in terms of in-app revenues for the developers. Games such as these are milk cash and keep generating revenue consistently. King Digital also has a couple of other games to offer apart from Candy Crush, so there’s no dearth of revenue really.

It will be interesting to see if this acquisition will bring any changes to Candy Crush, which seems like a risky thing to do considering that it’s a favorite with millions out there. What do you make of this news?
