There has been plenty spoken about the #Xiaomi #Mi5 in the global markets ahead of its official release. A recent report had indicated that the handset wouldn’t see an official release until the Chinese New Year which is on the 8th of February. Senior VP of Xiaomi, Liwan Jiang has now mentioned that the handset will be officially unveiled at an event on the 24th of February.
This is as good as a confirmation as it’s coming directly from the company’s top brass. Xiaomi has made its fans wait a long time for the Mi 5 smartphone. The handset is expected to be packing a 5.2 inch Quad HD display, the octa core Snapdragon 820 SoC, a 16-megapixel rear camera, a 13-megapixel front camera, 3/4GB of RAM, 32/64GB of storage and Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
The Mi 5 should remain an exclusive to the Asian markets, with the company not quite ready to enter the American or European markets. Xiaomi has released a bunch of accessories in these regions, but has been out of the smartphone action fearing potential lawsuits from the likes of Apple and other major OEMs.
