Note 5 got locked out, won’t accept Google account username & password

Problem: Locked out as password not accepted. Used Android Device Manager thinking this would reset Password. No.  Reset to Factory Settings. Now, Google will not accept my Account and Password. Was hoping to get back in and not lose new photos and videos as they were for a Research Project in our area. Can they be retrieved? (once I’m back in). Do I have to wait 48 hours  before trying to get back in with Google?

Solution: You will be able to regain access to your phone and set it up using the Google account you previously used after 72 hours since the reset.

Photos and videos that were lost during the reset won’t be recovered anymore.

Note 5 shuts down and restarts randomly, network locked again

Problem: It shuts off randomly and restart randomly. I bought my Note 5 in Thailand and I am living in Sweden. The store have unlocked it and installed a language pack so it can show Swedish. I wonder if I make a master recover does the unlock disappear and the language pack also? I had the phone for two weeks. And it’s important that it will work in Sweden when I get there. I can not get in contact with the store I bought it from. I tried to wipe cache and reboot several times. And have uninstalled a lot of apps. Please what to do? Regards, Robert.

Solution: Neither the reset nor the language pack restored the network lock in your phone. Since you can no longer contact the store that unlocked it, try some online services. A quick search in Google will surely give you some websites that offer unlocking services. Your other option is to pay a local tech to unlock your phone.

However, you must first resolve the random shutdowns and restarts and there’s no better way to do that than the master reset.

Note 5 showing “No network connection, try again later” error

Problem: I just bought a Note 5. I had a Galaxy S5. I put the SIM card on the new note5 and it says “no network connection try again later” and I have running the service still. What can it be?

Solution: Call your service provider as your phone needs to be provisioned. In the United States, a SIM card is often attached to one IMEI so you need aid from your provider. You may be sent a new SIM.

Can Note 5 be unlocked by Google account or Gmail?

Question: I read your information about forgot fingerprint. But last I forgot the PIN. Can I unlock by Google account or Gmail?

Answer: Information on how to regain access to your phone will be sent to your Google account if your forgot the backup password and the device won’t recognize your fingerprint. However, it’s only possible if you’ve properly setup the account in your phone and that the device has internet connectivity. If all these methods fail, you can always do the master reset. The catch is you will lose all your data.

“Unfortunately, System UI has stopped”

Problem: I see the error message Unfortunately, System UI has stopped, & do not know how to solve the issue.

Solution: If it occurred after an update, then wiping the cache partition will get rid of it, otherwise, you are required to do the master reset, with or without an update.

Air Command takes several seconds to pop up after detaching the S Pen

Problem: After detaching S Pen, the Air Command option takes about 20-30 seconds to pop out. Same with the screen off memo, it takes about a minute to start after detaching the S Pen.

Solution: It appears like your phone is actually suffering from general performance issues that it would take so long to open even the native features and apps. Make sure there’s plenty of internal storage space left and/or just do the master reset right away.

Disable default app selection on the Galaxy Note 5

Problem: The issue has been from the beginning. When selecting an app to open (among various apps) it always becomes the default app and then I have to go to default apps and remove it in order to be able to select a different app the next time. Example: Internet search engine, music apps,  editing apps. Is there a way to turn off this default selection? It’s a real pain.

Solution: I, too, have encountered this kind of problem before and what I did was clear the defaults and wiped the cache partition. I suggest you do the same and if the problem remained after that, you always have the master reset as your last resort.

Contact entries got changed after WhatsApp chat

Problem: Twice deleted entries altogether as though never entered e.g. name was entered to the phone book. Started chatting on WhatsApp. Next time could not find the name nor the WhatsApp chat. Only the number was there as though never entered the name.

Solution: If the contact information got changed when viewed using the stock Contacts app, then all you got to do is clear the cache and the data of the Contacts app. However, if the problem is with WhatsApp, then uninstall it and download a fresh copy from the Play Store, or you may report it to the developer.

Note 5 LED indicator lights up, phone won’t respond

Problem: I have 2 days with my note 5, yesterday I connected the phone with the wifi of my house so it could update some apps (Facebook, Gmail, YouTube)…I plugged the cell to charge while it was doing that and left it alone…when I come back the led red light is on permanently and the screen displays a color  grey battery with the lightning in the middle‎ and won’t turn on. I unplug the cell and try to restart, the led light wont turn off the phone won’t start. What can be the problem? Help please.

Solution: It’s the result of a system crash and that’s already the reason why the phone won’t respond. It can easily be fixed by doing the force reboot; press and hold the Volume Down and Power buttons together for 20 seconds and your phone will reboot.

Note 5 can’t get service in some areas

Problem: I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and I’m with Telus. My phone in some areas won’t have service but it will show that I still have good service and LTE. I never know if I don’t have service so if I text someone, they receive the text 20 times even though my phone says the text doesn’t send. My brother is with the same carrier with an iPhone 6 plus and he doesn’t have this problem nor does he have problem with not having bad reception like my phone does.

Suggestion: Apparently, the issue isn’t with the phone but the network and in that case, there’s not much you can do about it except call the company and seek assistance.

Note 5 keeps freezing

Problem: My phone had froze once before but the sprint representative told me press the power and home key, but nothing happened. Then they told me to let my phone completely die out then charge it up. It came on. My phone froze again but with your help it immediately came on. How many times will this happen?  Should i seek a replacement?

Solution: It depends on what the cause freezes was. If it was only a minor app problem, then a reboot can fix it immediately but in your case, apparently, it didn’t help that much. Since we can’t pinpoint what the cause was, it’s time you did a more general troubleshooting procedure. The most effective for this kind of issue is the master reset.

By the way, if the phone freezes again, press and hold the VOLUME DOWN and POWER buttons together for 20 seconds to force it to reboot.

Note 5 won’t update emails while idle

Problem: Hello. After updating my Galaxy Note 5, I noticed that when receiving e-mails, I have to wake up the phone manually. The phone will not “wake-up” automatically, as it does when displaying texts, lost calls, etc. I have already went over the settings. Everything seems to be well set.. Any idea how to troubleshoot? Thanks.

Solution: Go to Wi-Fi Settings, under Advanced, make sure the option “Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep” is set to Always. This problem occurs because your connection drops as soon as the phone sleeps or becomes idle so new messages rush in the moment you wake the phone up and connection is restored.

Facebook contacts not syncing with the Note 5

Problem: I cannot sync my Facebook contacts with my other contacts. I’m having the same issue as Tania. Your posted solution does not work. I have sync contacts turned on under Facebook account, but if I select the option to only show my Facebook contacts, no contacts appear.

Answer: Unfortunately, there’s no solution for this problem because the Facebook isn’t supporting this feature anymore. Try uninstalling the app and sideload Facebook’s .apk that was released around the third-quarter of last  year. Perhaps that should work.
