LG G5 to be a complete revamp and will be “nothing like” its predecessors

LG G5 Battery

The #LGG5 is expected to be revealed on the 21st of February, which not-so-coincidentally happens to be a day after Samsung’s expected release of the #GalaxyS7 and the #GalaxyS7edge smartphone.

It’s natural for rival manufacturers to build in new features in order to differentiate from their competition. And LG appears to be going a step ahead and has mentioned to a source familiar with the matter that its upcoming flagship will be “nothing like” the LG G4 or the G3, suggesting a complete rethink of its design strategy.

It’s not uncommon for manufacturers to revamp their design language lineup before a big release. This is something that served Samsung very well with the Galaxy S6, coming after the disastrous Galaxy S5 flagship from 2014.

The LG G5 is expected to be packing a “Magic Slot” at the bottom which could house the removable battery door and some other neat tricks up its sleeve. At this juncture, we’re not quite sure what this feature will bring to the table, so it will be interesting to see if it’s actually as good as it sounds.

As we’ve seen from the renders already, the LG G5 will have relocated volume keys, although the fingerprint scanner should remain on the back. While many believed the LG V10 to be an accurate representation of what the G5 might look like, that clearly doesn’t appear to be the case going by the previous leaks.
