Update: Motorola has issued a short statement on the matter. You can check that out in its entirety here.
Along with mentioning that the upcoming range of #Moto phones will have fingerprint scanners, #Lenovo has also confirmed the axing of the #MotoE and the #MotoG lineup to a popular online site. This means that we won’t get to see either of these devices from the company this year.
This is quite odd as the Moto G has been very successful for the company over three iterations, so it would seem like an oversight to ditch the handset altogether.
With the company’s focus now on midrange devices, we should say that this was expected on some level. Lenovo’s Vibe lineup will carry the baton for the midrange handsets going forward. Perhaps we’ll see a rebranded version of the Moto G somewhere down the line? In any case, this has come as disappointing news to hundreds and thousands of Moto G users out there who will never see the successor to the 3rd gen Moto G.
What are your thoughts on this revelation?
