BlackBerry supposedly ditching BB10 OS this year to focus solely on Android

BlackBerry Priv

According to a new report #BlackBerry is considering ditching the BlackBerry 10 operating system altogether to only make #Android products. For now, it is said that the company has one major smartphone and a mystery device (could be a tablet) releasing in 2016, so it will be interesting to see if these devices will be running Android as well.

The CEO of BlackBerry, John Chen has mentioned that he’s “cautiously optimistic” about the company’s Android adoption and the sales of the Priv handset, so it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the Canadian manufacturer.

Ditching BlackBerry 10 actually makes complete sense given that it’s barely returned any profits for the company. So taking the Android route was the only logical step for the company. Many were wondering as to why the company waited this long to take the Android route, but better late than never, right?

Have you been impressed by the Priv? Would you contemplate switching to BlackBerry hardware if they rollout a new Android flagship this year? Let us know in the comments below.
