AppLock for the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P brings fingerprint locking to apps

The #LG #Nexus5X and the #Huawei #Nexus6P come with Google’s fingerprint scanners which can help with payment authentications as well as standard lock/unlock of the device. A new app called AppLock now lets users of the two smartphones lock individual apps with their fingerprints as well.

This is a very handy feature for people who prefer to have that extra layer of privacy with their smartphones. The app is free, although customers will have to make do with ads. Once you install the app, it’s as simple as picking out the apps that you want to be secured with your imprints.

If you don’t want to use your fingerprints to unlock a frequently used app, you can choose to have a temporary unlock in place, which doesn’t ask for your fingerprint for a predefined period. Overall, the app is a godsend for people who share their smartphones with a large number of people and want to keep content secure and away from prying eyes. This is hard to achieve with devices as bypassing the main lockscreen usually gives people access to practically everything on the smartphone.

Given the nature of the tech being used here, the application is only compatible with the Nexus 6P and the Nexus 5X at the moment. Head over to the link below to download the app.
