Songza to be merged with Google Play Music starting January 31

The #Google owned #Songza music streaming and suggestions app will cease to exist on January 31, 2016 and will be merged with Google #PlayMusic. It’s interesting to note that Play Music already uses a couple of features from Songza, including the handy ‘Concierge’ feature which gives users suggestions for music depending on their mood.

Shutting down Songza makes sense for Google and would allow it to focus on just one music streaming application. Some of the web features of the app will also be incorporated onto Play Music, so expect some new changes on the default Android music player starting late next month.

To make the switch easier, Songza has already sent in mails to their users urging them to switch to Google Play Music, while also allowing transfer of playlists, stations as well as songs and other music data to the app. Were you a user of Songza? What do you make of this new change?
