S5 Flickering Screen In Standby Mode
Problem: The screen is flickering in stand by as when using the phone . Makes the colour scheme gray-ish. The screen blinks when I try to put it on standby turn itself off and I have to take the battery out to start it again. I tried the colours in safe Mode but they work properly. Do I need to rest to factory settings?
Solution: Several other owners of this device have also experienced this flickering issue. There are others also who have not experienced this problem on their device at all. Since it is difficult to pinpoint the exact cause of this issue you will need to isolate the various factors that may cause this problem.
The first thing to consider is if an app you downloaded is causing the problem. You mentioned that the issue does not occur in Safe Mode which is an indication that an app you downloaded is causing the problem. You need to find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If you can’t find the app then I suggest you backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
After the factory reset check if the flickering issue still occurs when your phone is in standby. If it does then this may already be a hardware related problem in which case you should have your phone checked at an authorized service center.
S5 Flickering Screen Most Of The Time
Problem: My screen is flickering most of the time. Mostly this happens the first couple of minutes i start using the phone. When i use it in different room temperatures and if the battery starts running low. The lights on the screen flicker in green yellow-ish color.
Solution: Try to check first if this problem is caused by a glitch in the phone software. The first thing you need to do is to wipe the cache partition of your device from the recovery mode. This deletes the temporary data stored in your device which could cause this type of problem.
If the issue still persists then the next step is to determine if an app installed in your phone is causing this flickering screen issue. To check if this is the case you need to start your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are disabled. If your screen does not flicker in this mode then chances are the issue is caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If you can’t find the app or if the screen still flickers even in Safe Mode then proceed with backing up your phone data and do a factory reset.
If the reset fails to solve the problem then this may already be a hardware related issue. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it examined.
S5 Screen Flickers Then Goes Black
Problem: My phone started flickering about 2 weeks ago because of something with have low brightness. Now if I lock my phone it wont turn on , it only flickers & goes black. I Do this for about 5 minutes before it turns on correctly. I have to watch my phone all times of the day to make sure it doesn’t lock. PLEASE HELP ME!
Solution: This problem could be caused by some form of corrupt data. You should first start your device in recovery mode then wipe the cache partition of your device. This deletes the temporary data in your phone. Start your phone normally then check if the flickering still occurs. If it does then I suggest you backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
After the reset check if the issue occurs. If it does then this may already be a hardware related problem. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
S5 Flickering Green
Problem: I got my Samsung galaxy s5 a couple days ago from a friend and everything was working fine up until yesterday when my screen dimmed from not touching screen for a minute then a bunch of yellowish greenish lines appeared horizontal and then my screen turned off. I would hit the home button and my screen would turn on like normal and work fine until it was going into sleep mode for not in use. I tried taking the battery out and holding the power button down for 2 minutes and then put the battery back in and it didn’t do anything so I turned the brightness of auto and that seemed to help but now when I go to hit the home button to wake my phone up my screen will flicker green and then it will go to my home screen sometimes it will stay black but the buttons are lit up so I hit the power button and then hit the power button again to wake phone up and it will go to my home screen. how do I fix this? please help
Solution: You should try to check first if this problem is caused by some form of corrupt data in your device. To do this just start your phone in recovery mode then select the wipe cache partition option. This procedure will delete the temporary data stored in your device. Restart your phone then check if the issue still occurs.
If you are still having the same problem then the next step is to check if an app you installed is causing this problem. To do this you need to start your phone in Safe Mode. Once your phone is in this mode check if the issue still occurs. If it doesn’t then it could have been caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If however the issue still occurs even in Safe mode then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
If the reset fails to resolve the problem then this may already be caused by a faulty hardware. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
S5 Screen Flashing Yellow Then Black
Problem: Was managing my gear s watch when my screen timed out and when i pressed the power button to turn the screen back on, it didn’t respond, so after like 2 more attempts, the display attempted to turn on but the sides and top of the screen quickly flashed with a yellow color like if a sprint phone was powering up, the display stays black and unresponsive but the phone fully boots then the screen tries coming on which triggers a short vibration 2 or 3 times which triggers a reboot
Solution: Try to check first is this issue is caused by a glitch in your phone software. Turn off your phone then take out its battery and microSD card if one is installed. Press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge your phone circuit and clear out its RAM. Reinsert just the battery then turn on your phone.
If the problem still occurs then start your device in recovery mode then select the wipe cache partition option. This will delete the temporary data stored in your phone. Restart your phone normally.
If the above troubleshooting steps fail to resolve the problem then you should consider doing a factory reset from the recovery mode. Take note that this will delete all data stored in your phone so make sure that you have recently made a backup of your phone data.
