The #Samsung Galaxy #S4 was once the best smartphone that Samsung released way back in 2013. This flagship device sports a 5 inch Super AMOLED full HD display and uses the Exynos 5 Octa 5410 chipset combined with 2GB of RAM to provide a smooth user experience. While this particular model performs rather well today despite its age there are instances when owners experience some issues with the phone.

S4 Screen Goes Black When Power Button Pressed Lightly
Problem: Phone goes to black screen when power button is pressed slightly, does not go to lock screen, goes black and then freezes. Happens every time. Screen will not freeze or go black though if screen just times out. It will work fine. Please help as this is becoming quite the hassle.
Solution: There’s a possibility that this could be a software related problem. The first thing you need to do is to check if some form of corrupt temporary data is causing this problem. To do this you just need to start your phone in recovery mode then wipe the cache partition of your phone. Restart your phone normally then check if the problem still occurs.
If you still experience the same issue then the next thing you need to do is to check if an app installed in your phone is causing the problem. This usually occurs if an app has a bug or is conflicting with the phone software. To check if this is the case you need to start your phone in Safe Mode. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app you downloaded and installed in your device. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If the problem still persists then one last troubleshooting step that you can do is to perform a factory reset. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing this procedure.
If after the factory reset you still experience the same problem then I suggest your bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked. Your phone may have a faulty power button that’s shorted and this may cause your phone to freeze.
S4 Screen Is Black
Problem: I recently damaged the sim card slot for my s4 and had to get a new one ,once I removed the old sim card slot and put the new one in I put the phone on charge since it was on low battery before I took it apart.I try to switch it on but all i hear is a vibration and it also charges normally the red LED light glows when i put it on charge(the phone doesn’t heat up when I charge it so the battery isn’t at fault),also when I try put it on a blue LED light flashes(indicating its turning on or off but the screen is black.
Solution: Did you do the SIM slot replacement yourself? If you did then you should retrace the steps that you took to do the replacement. In particular, check for any wires that you may have accidentally disconnected. Check the display connector and make sure that it is properly connected to the board.
Once you have made sure all connectors are secured reassemble the phone then see if it starts properly.
If the problem still occurs then the next thing you need to do is to check if the problem is caused by a glitch in the phone software. To do this you need to start your phone in Recovery Mode. Two things may happen. Its either your phone proceeds to recovery mode or not. If your phone does not go to recovery mode or if you still can’t see anything on the phone screen even if you tried to access the recovery mode then there’s a possibility that the phone display may be defective. Have it checked at an authorized service center. You may need to replace your phone display.
If however your phone is displaying the recovery mode then try to wipe the cache partition of your phone then see if you can now start your phone normally. If this doesn’t resolve the problem then you should consider doing a factory reset from the recovery mode. Take note that this deletes all data stored in your phone so make sure that you have recently made a backup of your phone data.
S4 No Display After Falling In Water
Problem: My Samsung s4 active fall in water it was out of power. Then after I charged fail to display. after two weeks display and work as normal although screen was faint in lower part. After 10 days the phone was out of power I charged it didn’t display anything I can call my number it can ring, I can hear message coming but I cannot see anything
Solution: This issue is most likely caused by a water damaged display. When your phone gets dropped in water there’s a tendency that the hardware will be damaged. In this case, the display is affected. One clue that leads me to believe that the display is the problem is that your phone is still getting calls and messages.
I suggest you bring your device to an authorized service center and have it checked. You may need to replace the display of your phone.
S4 Screen Won’t Light Up
Problem: I try turning my device on and i feel the vibration on the phone for when it turns on and the blue light in the notifications does light up too but the screen just wont display anything at all or turn and i can hear sounds in the phone when i do something but screen wont light up and when i plug the charger the notification light at the top for when it’s charging wont light up neither, help please
Solution: Try checking if this problem is software related although there’s a big possibility that this may already be hardware related.
The first thing you need to do is to check if this problem is due to your phone battery not having sufficient charge. Connect your phone to its wall charger and let it charge for at least 20 minutes then turn on the phone. If the phone does not turn on then disconnect the charger and take out the battery. If your phone has a microSD card then take it out as well. Press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This discharges your phone circuit of any charge and clears out the RAM. Reinsert just the battery then turn on the phone. Check if the issue is now resolved.
If the problem persists then try to start your phone in recovery mode and see if it proceeds. If it does and you can see the different options under recovery mode then you should wipe the cache partition of our phone. This deletes the temporary data stored in your device and if this data is corrupt can lead to his type of issue. You should also consider doing a factory reset while your phone is in this mode. Make sure to only do this if you have recently made a backup of your phone data.
If your phone can’t proceed to recovery mode then this may already be a hardware related issue. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
S4 Screen Won’t Turn On
Problem: I’m sorry, I can’t tell you the Android version. I don’t know it, and have no way of knowing what it is at the moment. My screen won’t turn on at all. It was dropped, and the screen cracked a little bit. My phone is fully charged, and the light on the left hand corner that goes from blue to green to red lights up. However, my screen itself does not light up at all. I tried restarting it, and the Samsung logo wasn’t visible. I haven’t installed any Apps or done any changes to my phone. I just want to have the screen work again. Please, help me?
Solution: If your phone was dropped and the screen got cracked then there is a possibility that your phone display is already physically damaged. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked. You may be advised to have your screen replaced.
S4 Screen Went Black
Problem: My screen on my S4 MINI just went black. I listened to music but when I wanted to change the song it was black with weird stain on it. I took the battery out and tried some of your solution possibilities but it didn’t work. when I turn it on you could still use it, because you can see a little bit light coming threw on the top left and I you can see changing the home screen, etc. And there is a little Crack but it didn’t fell down, it happened when I put the battery back in. Thanks in advance for your help.
Solution: Try starting your mode in recovery mode. If in recovery mode the screen issue still occurs then this may already be a hardware related problem caused by the crack in the phone display. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have your phone checked. You may need to have your screen replaced.
