In this latest post we will tackle the Galaxy Note 4 sound does not work issue & other related problems. Note 4 Sound Does Not Work

Problem: the sound on the rear speaker works fine. The sound on the front speaker does not work at all. the phone sound, music, no sound at all thanks

Solution: This issue could already be caused by a defective front speaker if it doesn’t work when using different apps. You should however check first if this is a software related problem by backing up your data then doing a factory reset. If the problem still occurs after the reset then have the front speaker of your phone checked at an authorized service center. It may have a loose connection which just needs to be soldered properly or the speaker itself may need to be replaced.

Note 4 Stuck In Headphone Mode

Problem: how do i get the headphone sign off. I have no sound when calling people it’s as if i’m using headphones but there’s no headphones in. Thank you

Solution: Try to check the headphone port of your phone for any signs of dirt or debris. If necessary clean it using a can of compressed air.

Get your headphones then insert it in your phone then take it out immediately. Repeat this a couple of times and see if the headphone icon disappears.

If the problem still persists then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This is a necessary step to eliminate any software related issues that may be causing this problem.

If after the factory reset the problem still persists then bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Does Not Ring Sometimes

Problem: I can’t hear it ring.  Sometimes it rings and other times it doesn’t.  I have it on vibrate so I can hear it or feel it.  I’ve tried soft reset, changing ringtones, checking system for updates, and it’s still the same. Any advice?

Solution: If you already did most of the preliminary troubleshooting steps then what I suggest you do is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 4 Audio Not Routing To Speaker After Using Headphone

Problem: After using the headphones (although possibly just now of its own accord) the audio will not route to the speaker but only to the earpiece which means you cannot hear media audio or an alarm. Requires a reboot to activate speaker.

Solution: If a reboot is required to resolve the issue then it may be caused by some form of corrupt data in your phone. I suggest you start your phone in recovery mode then wipe the cache partition of your device.

If the problem persists then proceed with backing up your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 4 Sound Only Works If Using Headset Or Speaker

Problem: Recently, I noticed that the sound on my device only works if I use headset or speakerphone.

Solution: This problem could be caused by a faulty front speaker. You should however check first if this is a software related issue by backing up your phone data then do a factory reset. If the issue still persists after the reset then you should bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
