New Android 6.0.1 will introduce a plethora of new emojis on Nexus devices

Nexus Emojis

#Google announced over the weekend as to how a future #Android update would introduce a bunch of new emojis to the system. Well, that day seems to be today with Google now announcing the Android 6.0.1 update for Nexus smartphones. This update carries over 200 emojis, including some new additions like taco and unicorn (why has it taken Google so long to bring this?).

It is interesting to note that iOS users already have these emojis thanks to a recent update, but it’s good to see that Google isn’t making its customers wait too long to get hold of them. These Unicode 8 characters will also be given to other OEMs out there, so you can expect this to be a standard across all Android devices in the weeks to come.

Android 6.0.1 is only seeding to the Nexus devices at the moment, so not a lot of users will be able to catch these new emojis right away. Do you own a Nexus device? What do you make of this news?

  1. If that’s what they’re gonna give me, I think I will pass! That would be “uncool” emojis in my book! 🙁

  2. Considering several of these new emoji appearing on iOS devices, I’m not so sure. I mean, do we REALLY need a Pepsi emoji???

  3. I’m up for some cool emojis on my Nexus devices! Well, I hope that they are cool,….just sayin’……. : )
