HTC’s next flagship codenamed ‘Perfume’ to launch with Android 6.1: Report

HTC Services App

According to a renowned #HTC source, the company’s upcoming flagship will be codenamed ‘Perfume’ and will break cover next year. According to this tweet sent out by the source, the smartphone will be featuring Android 6.1 out of the box with Sense 8.0 UI running on top.

This is a bit of a stretch considering how Google is yet to make Android 6.1 official with Android 6.0.1 just beginning to make its way to a select few devices as of now. It also depends on when HTC is planning to release the smartphone. If we go by the usual Q1 timeframe, then we’re afraid this report doesn’t make any sense as Google might not be keen on releasing a major upgrade to Marshmallow within the next two months. It will be exciting to check out HTC’s new Sense UI, however.

What we take away from this report is that HTC hasn’t given up its ambitions in the mobile segment. One would say that the company’s faith in the market was renewed given the relative success of the One A9 smartphone, especially during the Thanksgiving weekend. Will the company’s Perfume flagship manage to replicate this success?
