#Qualcomm is placing all its bets on the #Snapdragon820 SoC which is scheduled to arrive early next year on major flagship handsets. The success of this chip is quite crucial for the company as the Snapdragon 810 from earlier this year received less than favorable reviews from customers and manufacturers alike. The Snapdragon 820 is set to change that and it seems like the company is already off to a good start, going by the benchmark results that are now available online.
On AnTuTu, the Snapdragon 820 managed to score a resounding 131,648, which is significantly higher than any Android flagship we’ve seen in the market today. As for GeekBench, the device managed to score 2,320 points in the single core test and 5,396 points in the multi core test, further suggesting that this is indeed a powerful chipset.
The test was seemingly conducted on a Qualcomm specific prototype device running Android 6.0 Marshmallow, so the software might have also played a part in these benchmark results. The likes of the Samsung Galaxy S7, the Xiaomi Mi 5 and several others are expected to showcase Snapdragon 820 in a couple of months from now, so we’ll know if these benchmark scores hold weight in the real world.
