T-Mobile Introduces The 4G LTE CellSpot

T-Mobile is always trying to improve their coverage and their latest move is no exception. Soon customers will be able to receive a 4G LTE Cellspot, which acts as a mini cell tower to give customers up to 3,000 square feet of 4G LTE coverage.

According to T-Mobile, the device measures at 8.5-inches wide, 8.5-inches tall and is 1.3-inches thick, so it won’t be in the way that much. It also connects using a customer’s home Internet connection. T-Mobile also says,

“The 4G LTE CellSpot delivers the complete T-Mobile LTE network experience, including the Un-carrier’s latest network advancements—like VoLTE, HD voice for crystal clear calls, advanced messaging, video calling and more. In fact, it’s the world’s first device of its kind that is 3G, 4G and VoLTE-capable, and any T-Mobile customer can connect to it automatically just like any other cell tower – no passwords or log-ins required.”

If this sounds familiar, AT&T has had a Microcell mini-tower available for some time, but it requires phone numbers to be added to customers’ plans for them to communicate to it, even if they are on the same Wi-Fi network. This one from T-Mobile, however, does not require a login.

The 4G LTE Cellspot is available to all Simple Choice customers, as long as they subscribe to active service. All that’s needed to acquire one is a $25 deposit than can be refunded if a customer leaves T-Mobile. If you don’t return the equipment to T-Mobile, you will also be subject to a fee. The Cellspot will be available this Wednesday, November 4th. Will you pick one up?
