S5 Music Files Missing In microSD Card
Problem: I have a lot of music, so I bought a 64G sd card for my new phone. I copied 48G of music onto it (via windows, with the laptop card adapter). But the phone doesn’t seem to know the storage is there. Neither the music apps nor the MyFiles app even seem to see it–MyFiles shows status for only the native 16G.
Solution: Try restarting your phone then check if the music files appear. Sometimes a glitch in the phone software causes a delay in the detection of new files in the microSD card. If the restart does not work then take out the microSD card and have your computer read the card again.
There are two things that can happen.It’s either the computer can detect the music files or it is not able to detect the music files.
If the music files cannot be detected then there may have been a problem during the transfer process. I suggest you transfer your music files again but this time format the microSD card first using the FAT32 file system. Make sure you don’t have any important data stored in the card before you format it. If you have then make a backup copy of it first.
Once you have finished copying the music files try to check using your computer if the files are indeed in the microSD card. If they are you can proceed with inserting the card to your computer.
If the music files can be detected in your computer then the issue may be with your phone. Try wiping the cache partition of your phone then re-insert the microSD card. Start your phone in Safe Mode then check if the music files are now available. If they are available restart your phone normally then check if you can now view the music files. If you can’t view the music files then there may be an app installed in your phone that is preventing you from viewing the files. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If the problem remains unresolved at this point then I suggest you try getting a new card as the one you have may be defective.
S5 Missing Files In microSD Card
Problem: I have a 32 gig sd card in my phone. It holds all of my music, some apps etc. All of the stuff I have on there is fine. EXCEPT, I recently downloaded some MP3 files (not music, they are like motivational speakers) and put them in a folder named “SPEAKERS”. Everything was fine, listened to a couple and then after a few days I went to access them and they are gone. This has happened twice! No other problems with files or error messages. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Solution: Try taking out the card and have your computer read its contents. If the files are indeed missing and can’t be found by your computer then either they have been deleted accidentally or the microSD card may have some corrupt sectors that’s affecting its storage capability.
If you have another microSD card then I suggest you try using this and check if the issue occurs with this card as well. If it doesn’t then the problem is most likely caused by some corrupt sectors in your previous card.
If the problem occurs even on this other microSD card then this could be a phone software related problem. Try to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Check if you still get missing files after the factory reset.
S5 Photos, Videos Get Corrupt On microSD Card
Problem: Whether I set Samsung brand microSD to capture photos and videos, or I manually drag them there, they become corrupt. I have a lot of music and other sound files on there that play instantly without any problem, but my pics and videos have become corrupt. Is there any way to retrieve these files?
Solution: If your photo or video files becomes corrupt when you drag them to the microSD card then this card may already have developed some bad sectors.
To retrieve your corrupt photos and videos try to take out the card and have your computer read it. If your computer still can’t read the photos and videos then you can try to use the popular data recovery software available online to retrieve your files. Take note that most of the software available don’t help at all. If the files are really important then you should consider hiring a professional data recovery specialist.
S5 microSD Card Unexpectedly Removed
Problem: I have had 2 microsd cards fail on me, and once they do they are no longer recognized by any device. They are both 128gb cards and work fine to begin with, then I get messages saying that the sd card has been unexpectedly been removed – which it has not. I am seeing a lot of chatter on other message boards but nothing that tells me how to keep this from happening. I have already spent enough on this, I need a card that works, or a fix to the problem so I don’t kill another card.
Solution: There are three reasons why this issue is happening. First, the microSD card may be defective. If this is the case try using a different card. Make sure to use an authentic Samsung branded card. Second, this could also be caused by a glitch in the phone software. To check if this is what’s happening here you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset. After the reset check if the error message still appears.
Third, this could be a hardware issue. See if the microSD card is properly inserted in its slot. Make sure that it doesn’t wiggle around when you move it. If you notice some movement then the card may not be losing its connection to the contacts of the phone.To ensure that the card is secured tightly in place cut a piece of paper the size of the microSD card then place it on tp of the card before you insert the card to its slot. This creates a tight connection and secures the card in place.
If the problem persists then have your phone checked at an authorized service center.
S5 microSD Card Swap Space
Problem: My system was slow. I also couldn’t add any more songs to the sd card (8g). I replaced the sd card with a 64g card, have 45 gigs still available after putting a thousand songs and moving every possible app to the card too and now everything flies. Does the sd card add swap space much like a standard computer?
Solution: Adding a microSD card does not add swap space to your device. In Android if it detects that the RAM is already low it first tries to terminate an active application to free up space but not before giving the app a chance to persist in its current state. This means that the app may be terminated but its data is saved. When the app is accessed again it will appear to be running in the background but in actually it has been restarted.
S5 Remove microSD Card Error
Problem: I had put a sd card in my phone and when I turned my phone off it and turned it back on, it said I could remove the sd card. But it also wiped out all my pictures on my phone. I tried taking it out and putting it back in, but it say the same thing.
Solution: If the data stored in the microSD card got wiped out after restarting your phone then the card may be defective. Try replacing the card and see if the same problem occurs.
