S4 Calendar Widgets Not Working Correctly After Update

Problem: Ever since I updated to Lollipop a few weeks ago, my calendar widgets aren’t working correctly.  The events and memos are, but not my tasks. They are showing as another event on the day before the due date and not showing a box to be checked off at all.  I really loved before going to my calendar widget to see what tasks were yet to be completed without having to open the whole  calendar!

Solution: It appears that the widget app may have a problem. Try clearing the cache and data of the app. If this does not resolve the issue proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone. If the problem persists I highly recommend you backup your phone data and do a factory reset. This is usually done whenever an issue occurs right after a major software update.

S4 App Delay After Lollipop Update

Problem: For some reason since I upgraded my phone from Kitkat to Lollipop the phone has been acting weird!  Apps take longer to appear after the icon is touched. It is not only with apps even when trying to make a call when I press the green button sometimes I have to press it 2 or 4 times before the call starts to ring. Is there any battery saver app that will not stop my phone from working. No one can hear me and I can hear them. I am also getting a black screen over my screensaver that pops up whenever it wants it has a digital clock shows my mail icon and some other Icon. It doesn’t stay up long enough for me to see what it is or where it comes from. Half of the time when I make a call no one can hear me. I can hear them. But incoming calls work fine. I wish I never upgraded to Lollipop and I know there is no way to get Kitkat back. This whole update has screwed up my phone. The volume is very low. I can hardly hear people when they call or when I get a sound notification. I would appreciate any help. Thanks for your time

Solution: The reason why this is happening is that there may still be some KitKat data left in your device. This data which should have been removed during the update process is now causing a conflict with the Lollipop software. This in turn results to these issues your phone is having. I suggest you try to wipe the cache partition of your phone and check if the issues disappear. If the problem remains then proceed with a factory reset using the hardware keys. Make sure to backup your phone data before performing this procedure.

S4 Google Play Services Has Stopped Error

Problem: I did an update on my phone and ever since I constantly get messages on the screen like “google play services has stopped” & “the process has stopped”. I’ve turned it off and on, took the battery out and back in but it happens every 2 minutes and stopped me what I’m doing. It’s driving me nuts, can you help please? Thanks.

Solution: Try checking first if there are any new app updates available for your phone, especially that for the Google Play Services. If there are no updates available or if you are unable to check for an update then proceed to the Application Manager from your phone settings then click on the All tab. Search for the Google Play Services app then click on force stop. Once it has stopped proceed with clearing the cache and data of the app. Go back out to the All tab then search for the Download Manager app. If it is disabled click on enable ( you will know that it is enabled if the disable button is displayed on the button). Proceed with clearing the cache and data of the app.

Restart your phone then see if the problem disappears.

If the issue still persists then proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone.

One last troubleshooting step you should consider if the issue remains unresolved is to do a factory reset. Just make sure to backup your phone data before proceeding.

S4 YouTube Not Playing Videos

Problem: Hey droid guy i find your post very help full on drippler but my problem is when i play videos on YouTube it won’t run perfect videos become black n white and boxes of pixels but videos are running fine in mx player vlc e.t.c i wish you can help me.

Solution: Since playing videos using the YouTube app requires an Internet connection make sure that your phone is connected to to the Internet using Wi-Fi or your mobile data. Once you have made sure that the Internet is fine you should proceed with clearing the cache and data of the YouTube app as this may be caused by some form of corrupt data.

There is also the possibility that an app you downloaded is interfering with the way youTube plays a video. To check if this is the case you should start your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the default apps are allowed to run while those apps you downloaded and installed are disabled. Try to play a video using YouTube. If the video plays fine then the problem may be caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

S4 Not Downloading Apps

Problem: if I want to download any apps it doesn’t allow me even whatsapp which initial installed is disabled . Even I try to download any apps it blocks everything.Every time I have restart to get it working again

Solution: Try to check your Internet connection first as this may be causing the problem. If you are connected to a Wi-Fi source then try to use a different Wi-Fi connection or you should also check if you can download any app without any problems using your mobile data connection.

Sometimes a third party app such as a security app may also cause this type of issue. To check if this is the case start your phone in Safe Mode. Once in Safe mode try to download an app and see if it proceeds normally. If it does then the issue may be caused by an app installed in your phone. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

One last troubleshooting step to consider is a factory reset. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing this.

Even when I have the phone in my possession it does the same thing so I know its not by human intervention. I have contacted the company and they offered no reason. Any suggestions please?
