OnePlus offering refunds to those who bought their faulty USB Type-C cables, but there’s a catch

USB Type-C OnePlus

#OnePlus found itself under a lot of criticism from customers of its USB Type-C cable as it didn’t conform with Type-C 1.1 standard and was found to be ineffective with some devices. In order to make up for this, the company has mentioned that it will be offering refunds to customers who got the cable from them.

However, OnePlus 2 customers who got the cable with their handset will get no such treatment as OnePlus believes that the cable functions perfectly fine with the device. That’s because the OnePlus 2 doesn’t support fast charging tech on board, which in this case is good news for the customers.

But OnePlus 2 customers have to make sure that they don’t use their USB Type-C cable with another compatible device as it could cause some issues. A Google engineer recently mentioned that the OnePlus USB Type-C cable couldn’t supply power in the required quantity, thus leading to issues with charging and even potentially damaging the device.
