YouTube Red Has Gone Live

YouTube Red has gone live this morning (in the US), now allowing users to not see any ads on YouTube for $9.99 per month. Besides the ad-skipping, you also get Google Play Music All Access included and the ability to play videos in the background along with offline downloading.

According to YouTube, they are working on getting it to be available outside the US as well, including other apps like YouTube Kids, YouTube Music, and YouTube Gaming. If you don’t want to use Red, you can use YouTube just like normal with no changes.

If you are lucky and subscribed to Google Play Music All Access when it was available for just $7.99 when it had just launched, you also get YouTube Red absolutely free. So if you’re subscribed to Play Music, YouTube Red should automatically be available (in the US). In your YouTube settings, Red will now be a tab where you can see billing information and status.

If you don’t have Google Play Music All Access, will you be subscribing to Youtube Red? A free one month trial is available, but you have to give it your credit card. So if you sign up for a trial and decide it’s not for you, remember to watch out for that at the end of your month.
