Some units of the Samsung Galaxy S7 might use the Snapdragon 820: Report

Galaxy S6

There has been much talk about the #Samsung #GalaxyS7 using a #Snapdragon820 chipset underneath. A new report is now mentioning that the company might use the following chipset only in some models. The assumption is that the Korean manufacturer will stick to its home-baked Exynos chipsets for the rest of the variants. Samsung has done this in the past as well, so there’s no reason why it couldn’t be tried again.

This leads us to believe that Samsung might divide the distribution of the chipsets depending on the region, which might pose some issues when it’s time to send out a major software update for the flagship. It is currently believed that the Snapdragon 820 variants will be concentrated towards the U.S. and China.

We’re still some distance away from actually seeing the release of the Galaxy S7, so a lot could change by then. Keeping that in mind, we won’t jump to any conclusions at this point.
