Showtime, HBO Now and others now available on Android TV

Showtime Android TV

#AndroidTV just got a lot better today with the addition of services like HBO Now, Showtime, Disney Movies Anywhere, WWE and UFC, so a wide range of consumers can enjoy their favorite content from the Android TV console of their choice. These services need a separate subscription however, so you will have to download their individual apps and sign up for them, if you so please.

In addition to adding these services to the Android TV roster, Google also announced that it will be partnering with Smart TV manufacturers like TCL and Hisense to bring Android TV to their range of televisions. This will give Android TV a wider market across the world and thus increase marketshare as well.

Some set-top-box manufacturers are also offering the ability to watch cable TV content and enjoy Android TV apps on the side, offering the best of both worlds.

It is yet to be seen if any major manufacturers will release standalone Android TV hardware. For now, the NVIDIA Shield, Nexus Player and the Razer Forge TV are the only ones that come to mind.
