S5 Won’t Charge
Problem: It won’t charge. It charged a bit hours ago, now it is a brick. Already did a Safe Mode check, and it won’t charge either.
When it is on, it won’t even display the icon. When it is off, it will display the icon, but won’t show the animation. It also just shows it when it is connected (be it that I connect the micro usb or I plug the charger to the wall).
About the contacts, I tried cleaning them, and then I checked the cable and it had only 4 contacts. I changed to a random cable and now it shows the charge icon, but only a few seconds, without animation.
Solution: Try taking out the battery of your phone first. Press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This procedure discharges your phone circuit and clears out its RAM. Reinsert the battery then try to charge your phone again.
If your phone still does not charge then replace the USB cord that you are using to charge your phone with one that is known to work. This cord breaks easily especially if it is bent or coiled constantly. You should also try using a different wall charger if replacing the USB cord does not help.
Another factor to consider is that the battery of your phone may already be faulty. Try getting a new battery and see if this solves the problem.
If at this point you are still experiencing the same issue then this may already be caused by a problem with the phone hardware. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
S5 Not Charging With Samsung Charger
Problem: When I plug my charger in it beeps and says unable to charge phone and that I need to charge my phone with a Samsung charger. I’m using the one that came with it.
Solution: The S5 has a built-in protective feature that measures the amount of current the charger provides the device. If the value is out of the specified set range then an error message will pop up. This usually occurs when using a third- party charger but it has also been known to occur with the Samsung charger that came with your phone.
Since you are using the original charger of your phone then there are three possible reasons why this is happening which we will tackle.
First, the problem could be caused by a faulty USB charging cord. This cord gets broken easily since it is usually bent and coiled. Try using another USB charging cord and see if this helps. You should also try using a different wall charger to eliminate the possibility that your charger may already be defective.
Second, dirt or debris lodged on the charger port of your phone can cause this issue.This dirt or debris blocks the flow of current so it is best to check if your phone charging port has any of these. Clean if necessary using a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol.
Third, a corrupt software can cause this issue. Even if the charger is providing the correct current to your phone but if the software detects this as wrong then this issue will occur. I suggest you backup your phone data and do a factory reset to see if the software is causing this problem.
Once you have eliminated all three possible causes to this problem and it still persists then you should bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked since his may already be a hardware related problem.
S5 Not Charging
Problem: My phone is plugged in and about every minute or so it vibrates, turns the screen on, says its been unplugged, then vibrates again and goes back to charging. Unfortunately it is not actually charging since the battery has gone down from 68% to now 38%.
Solution: If your phone is gets connected and disconnected from charging then the problem may be with the USB charging cord you are using. This cord gets damaged easily especially if it is coiled or bent constantly. Try getting a new USB charging cord and see if this resolves the problem.
You should also check your phone charging port for any signs of dirt or debris. The presence of these particles will interfere with the charging process. Clean the charging port if necessary using a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol.
There’s also a possibility that the charging port of your phone may have a problem. It could have a loose connection with the main board of your phone. If this is the case then you should bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
S5 Broken Charger Port
Problem: My nephew is teething and he was chewing on the bottom of my phone. The port where I plug my charger is broken and now my phone won’t charge
Solution: The best thing to do right now is to have the charger port of your phone replaced at an authorized service center.
S5 Not Charging Not Turning On
Problem: My phone says it’s charged but when I unplug it from the charger it immediately shuts off and try to turn only but can’t
Solution: You should first check if this problem is software related. Make sure to plug your phone to the charger. Turn your phone on then backup your phone data. Do a factory reset. Unplug your phone from the charger then see if the problem still persists.
There are also instances when a faulty battery can cause this type of problem. If this is the case then you should get a new battery and try using it on your phone.
