One of the reasons why smartphones are very popular is because of the availability of various apps which a person can install in it. The #Samsung Galaxy #S4 for example is able to run almost any app available at the Google Play Store. These apps range from productivity apps, communication apps, music apps, and games just to name a few.
There are however instances when the app does not work as expected on the device. This is what we will be discussing in our latest troubleshooting guide. We have selected several messages sent to us by our readers concerning the Galaxy S4 apps not working properly issue and have come up with the necessary troubleshooting steps that needs to be done.

S4 Apps Crashes
Problem: My phone (GT-I9500 ) was fine a few months back. But the apps started crashing a week ago. Whenever I use the chathead of Facebook messenger, it crashes. If I have music playing in the background, that crashes too, along with the Netmeter Lite I use to see my download/upload speed. I know quite a lot about my phone, and I’ve tried a lot of stuff ( I flashed the official ROM from Sammobile, when the apps first started crashing. I wiped the cache, and formatted the system, it helps the phone go without app crashes for a few days, but then it starts crashing again ) but nothing helps.
Solution: If your phone apps do not crash for a few days after performing a factory reset then the problem may either be caused by an app or some form of corrupt data.
Try to start your phone in Safe mode first then check if you still experience any app crashing issues. Take note that in this mode only your phone’s pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps that you downloaded are disabled. If the problem does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app you installed. If you can remember what the last app you installed on your phone prior to the problem occurring then it may be the app causing the problem. Find out what app is causing the problem and uninstall it.
If the problem still occurs even in Safe Mode then proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone.
Sometimes a faulty microSD card can also cause our apps to crash. If your phone has a microSD card installed then try removing it.
S4 Virus Alert Error Message
Problem: For the last few weeks, I have been getting messages of: android warning bug affected your phone. I keep ignoring it figuring it is a trick for me to download a problem virus protection. Anyways, today after reading some troubleshooting tricks on your website, I did the soft touch restart but that didn’t work. So now I just finished taking out my phone’s battery and now I think I got bigger problems. As soon as I open the internet app, I get this:
DANGEROUS, Memory: 99%
then a picture of the green android under that
Then under the android picture are these words:
Virus has endangered your phone!
How to remove?
1) Click the button to download application
2) Open application to start the removal
After that, there is a green download button
Solution: The alert you are getting is just a creative way for the app developer to let you download their app. Do not click on the download application button as this may be a malicious app trying to gain access on your device. The safest way to get an app in your device is through the Google Play Store. This is because apps in the Play Store are constantly scanned for any possible threats that it may cause to a device. While there really is no 100% way of making sure that you won’t get a malicious app your chances of getting one is greatly reduced if you only get apps from the Play Store.
What you should do to get rid of this is to clear the cache and data of your browser app. You should also follow this up by wiping the cache partition of your phone. If you want to be safe then the best way to deal with this issue is to backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
S4 Apps Pauses Reloads
Problem: Hi I had my phone for one and half year now all was well till May when my phone keeps on asking me to update the software so I did the same y updating the software ever since then whenever I am watching a video either online or YouTube it keeps on pausing or playing back not only that no matter which app I am on it keeps on reloading back every one to two minutes even as am writing now it reload this page several times so please if there is anyone out here who can help me with this problem I will be very glad because this is really driving me crazy.
Solution: If this problem occured right after you updated the software of your phone then it may be caused by the old software data of your phone. This old data should have been removed during the update process but for some reason or another is still in your device causing this problem.
What you should do to resolve this issue is to first try to wipe the cache partition of your phone. This usually helps in most cases.
If the problem persists then I suggest you backup your phone data and do a factory reset using the hardware keys.
S4 Google Apps Problem After Software Update
Problem: Software update. Now Google play services has stopped message every few seconds. Google maps is dead. PLAY STORE LOCKS UP TIGHT.
Solution: Just like the problem we tackled above this issue may be caused by the old software data of your phone. Try wiping the cache partition of your phone first. If the issue persists then proceed with backing up your phone data then do a factory reset using the hardware keys.
S4 Error 495 Apps Refuse To Update
Problem: an update most apps but some such as Google Maps and Samsung Print will not update. In total there are something like 5 apps, mostly google that refuse to update. I have tried flushing the cache as recommended for Error 495 but no different.
Solution: If clearing the cache of your phone apps fails to resolve the problem then try wiping the cache partition of your phone. You should also try switching connection modes. If you are downloading an app using Wi-Fi then use your mobile data connection or if you are using your mobile data connection then try using Wi-Fi.
If the problem persists then remove your Google account from the phone. Wipe the cache partition again then restart your device. Once the phone has restarted add your account again.
If the above troubleshooting steps fail then your last course of action is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset using the hardware keys.
