When you get a new Android smartphone expect it to undergo several software updates as Google, the phone manufacturer, and your phone carrier try to improve its overall performance. The #Samsung Galaxy #Note4 for example was first released running on Android KitKat but then got an Android Lollipop update. While this update ideally should go smoothly without any problems this isn’t the case for most smartphone owners everywhere as there are cases when issues arise during or after the software update.

Note 4 Unsuccessful Software Update
Problem: AT&T just released a new software upgrade, at first my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 was saying, by the actual software upgrade, there was not enough space, though through settings, general, storage, my phone had 1.54gigs of space, I then proceeded to uninstall some apps I wasn’t using allot of, I have 360 security, which I ran at the end of my uninstallation process, I then proceeded to start the uploading of the new software, it ran but at the end, when the android bot is receiving the installation, it suddenly stopped, the phone restarted, and the notice said installation was unsuccessful, this has happened several times, each time the same. Can you please help, I was going to contact AT$T but there solution is usually to replace the phone, this is a new phone, if they replace it it’ll be a refurbished device, which I’m not very keen on, I’m still paying for this device and don’t think it’s fair to still pay full payments for a refurbished phone…. Thank you very much for your time,help and consideration.
Solution: There may be some data in your phone that is preventing the update to be successfully installed. Try wiping the cache partition of your phone first. After this is done you need to download the update again then check if it will successfully push through. If the problem still persists then you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the factory reset has completed download the update again then check if it is applied successfully.
In the event that the above troubleshooting steps fail then your other option is to connect your phone using a USB cord to a computer running on Kies. Once your phone is detected by Kies you will be prompted of a software update. Just follow the onscreen instructions to update your device.
Note 4 Software Update Error
Problem: So a few days ago I received a notification about an update. I decided to put my phone on the charger and connected it to the wi-fi so that it can download the update. Once it finished I tried installing it. It did it’s usual reboot thing that I would notice and once the install process started after 1% it would read error. I couldn’t tell if there’s like a number after it since it only shows for about half a second. Once the error shows it goes back as if it’s installing and goes to 2% and then the phone just reboots and goes back to normal and I get a message saying update error.
Solution: The update you downloaded may be corrupt, usually due to an interruption in your Internet connection, or there may be some data in your phone that is preventing the update to be applied.
To resolve this issue you should wipe the cache partition of your phone first. Once this is done download the update again then see if your phone gets updated successfully.
If you are still experiencing the same issue then you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset has completed download the update again then check if your phone gets updated.
If the error still occurs then connect your phone using a USB cord to a computer running on Kies then let Kies update your phone software.
Note 4 Multiple Issues After Software Update
Problem: Since the first update to Lollipop my phone has had strange things going on. It will dial or text random numbers while sitting untouched on a table, drop the sound from a call, both sides and remain connected. A few times it has remained connected to a call that was ended up to an 45 minutes prior. Since this latest update, about 2 days ago, it has also started with the power problems that others are having. I have held off on the resets because I need to backup all my data and don’t have a computer at the present time. Is there anything that can be done or will I need to go to the carrier for repair?
Solution: There’s a big possibility that a factory reset will resolve all these issues that your phone is facing after the software update.
The reason why this is happening is that the data from the old software version could still be in your phone. Normally this data will be removed during the upgrade process however there are cases when it is not removed. This old data is then causing a conflict with the new software version which in turn causes these issues to occur.
If you are not ready to do a factory reset yet then I suggest you do the next best thing which is wiping the cache partition of your phone. This deletes the temporary data stored by your device and will usually resolve the problem.
If the issue persists then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Note 4 Freezes After Software Update
Problem: My son and I both bought a Note 4 as soon as it became available. After the lollipop update we both had significant problems with our phones. Sprint couldn’t fix the problem and my son paid $70 to get a new Note 4. I have fewer problems so have been attempting various fixes using the Daily Dripp. At this point I’m so frustrated that I’m ready to get rid c of the Note 4 and never buy another Samsung phone. The biggest issue I’m having is that the phone freezes all the time. Twitter, FB, texting etc. I wait until it unfreezes but I’m done with it all
Solution: If your phone constantly freezes after the software update then the first thing you need to do is to wipe the cache partition of your phone. This deletes the temporary data stored in your device and if this data is corrupt it may cause the freezing issue.
If the problem persists try taking out the microSD card of your phone if one is installed. There are cases where a faulty microSD card can cause a phone to freeze. The corrupt sectors in the microSD card can cause the access of data stored in it to take a long time which manifests in your phone freezing.
Finally, if the above troubleshooting steps fail then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Note 4 Keeps Rebooting After Software Update
Problem: HI. I got a problem with my Samsung galaxy note 4. Two days ago i received update notification. It was lollipop update. After update phone keeps rebooting after samsung logo appears. I wipe cache partition, wipe data, flash several different roms via odin. But problem remain. Phone won’t turn on on lollipop. Can you please give me advice what to do next? I hope you can help me. Solution: Try reverting back to the stock Lollipop firmware of your phone. Make sure to take out the microSD card if your phone has one installed when flashing the stock ROM. If the problem still occurs then flash your phone with the stock Kitkat ROM. If your phone works on Kitkat then you could stay on this version first until a new Lollipop update arrives. If however your phone still has the same problem even when running KitKat then this may already be a hardware related problem. Bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
