PSA: The 2014 Moto X on AT&T and Verizon might not get Android 6.0 Marshmallow

Moto X

The 2014 MotoX on #Verizon and AT&T has just been ditched by #Motorola by the looks of it. Just as we spoke about the 2015 Moto E LTE not receiving the upgrade to #Android 6.0 Marshmallow, this has come as disappointing news to customers of the 2014 Motorola flagship on Verizon and AT&T.

The company is yet to offer detailed word on why this decision has been taken, but it’s quite evident that it’s not going to go down well with the customers. Manufacturers usually provide software updates for 18 or 24 months after the purchase and Motorola is falling short on both counts, which is even worse with the 2015 Moto E LTE.

Perhaps the company ran into issues while carrier testing the update. This is the only explanation we can come up with given that the 2014 Pure Edition Moto X is on course to receive the update, so hardware is clearly not an issue here.

Should Motorola be more transparent about why it’s leaving out two of its crucial devices from the Android 6.0 update schedule?
