Non-Skype users can now join a video call with the help of a unique link

Skype Guest Video Calls

In order to make #Skype video calls, users on both ends needed to have an account. But thanks to a new feature, Skype will now support video calls to your contacts who aren’t signed up yet. This can be achieved with the help of a unique link that you can send over to your friends. Once this link is clicked, users are asked to enter their name and will be guided through the process of joining the video call.

It’s basically a simple solution to those users who don’t have an account. Unfortunately, the feature is only limited to the U.S. and UK for the time being, although Skype is intent on adding more markets over the coming weeks. Users can initiate calls from Skype for Windows, Skype for Mac as well as Skype for Web.

Mobile users (iOS and Android) can join the video calls, but will need an account as the app cannot function without user credentials. The feature should be live immediately for users in the U.S. and the UK.
