Nexus 5X and the 6P don’t support the ‘double twist’ gesture to open the camera

Nexus 5X Double Twist Gesture

The #Nexus5X and the #Nexus6P smartphones were revealed to be supporting a unique ‘double twist’ gesture to open the camera. Well, we’ve now got some clarification coming through on this which suggests that the handsets don’t actually support this any more. Although this was spotted on the Indian demo units of the Nexus 5X and the 6P, users are reporting that a new update on the devices is now removing this setting altogether.

This means that users can only use the power button gesture (double tap) to quick launch the camera on the two Nexus flagships. This is slightly disappointing to customers who were expecting to see this feature in action. Qualcomm’s original post explaining this feature has been updated with the changes where it is also mentioned that this feature which was known as Context Core will be renamed Android Sensor Hub.

This is what Qualcomm’s page said –

The feature to launch the camera via double-twist of the device was replaced by double tap of the power key. The name Context Core has been changed to Android Sensor Hub.
