Netflix standard plan sees a $1 increase in monthly fees

#Netflix has just announced that it will be increasing the pricing of its standard plan by $1 every month, which means that the service will now set you back by $9.99 per month instead of $8.99. This pricing is only for newly joining customers though and old customers will still be able to retain the $8.99 pricing until October 2016, following which even those users will have to shell out $9.99 per month.

Interestingly, the pricing for the Basic and Premium plans have been untouched and remain at $7.99 and $11.99 respectively. This is understandable as the Standard plan is the most popular of the three for its ability to stream HD content and watch content simultaneously on two screens.

The price change will take effect right away for new customers in the U.S., Canada and the Latin American markets. Obviously, customers will not like the increase in price, but considering that it’s only $1, this shouldn’t be much of a trouble.
