HTC retaliates over allegations of copying Apple’s design with the One A9

HTC One A9 -Verizon

#HTC has received significant flak over the design of the #OneA9 smartphone that was revealed a few days ago. In particular, the handset was shown to be carrying design similar to the iPhone 6/6s.

Well, the Taiwanese manufacturer has naturally not taken this criticism very lightly and has retaliated accordingly with a statement. The company has mentioned that if anything, Apple is a company that has copied from them, thus taking the fight to the Cupertino giant.

Here’s what HTC said in a statement –

We’re not copying. We made a uni-body metal-clad phone in 2013. It’s Apple that copies us in terms of the antenna design on the back.”

The A9 is made thinner and more lightweight than our previous metal-clad phones. This is a change and evolution, and we’re not copying.”

HTC is sticking to its guns and has even gone on to hint that it will release more devices like this. It will be interesting to see if Apple will have a comment to make about this. In any case, we could be in for a very exciting next few weeks.

  1. About time. They’re not copying and never were. All the Apple fanboys in the world can complain as loud and as long as they want, but HTC did it first. (So move along and go back to complaining about the bezel or something else meaningless).
