How to Use your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus in Six Different Modes

How to activate Private Mode on your Galaxy S6 Edge+

One way to secure your personal contents in your S6 Edge+ smartphone is using the phone’s private mode. This feature is used to keep all your personal information hidden in a certain folder on your device.

Note: To protect the hidden contents, be sure to disable Private mode after each use.

Follow these steps to use private mode on your new phone:

  1. Touch Apps from the Home screen.
  2. Touch Settings.
  3. Touch Personal to view more options.
  4. Scroll to and touch to select Privacy and safety.
  5. On the Privacy and safety menu, touch Private Mode.
  6. You will be prompted with a disclaimer message. Read the disclaimer and touch Confirm to proceed.
  7. Touch the slider located on the upper-right corner of the Private mode screen to enable Private mode on your device.
  8. Touch to select an unlock method on the next screen. Among the options available include Pattern, PIN, Password, and Fingerprints.
  9. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the process. Otherwise, skip to step 10.
  10. To proceed with this guide, touch PIN.
  11. When prompted with the Set PIN screen, enter a PIN and touch Continue when done.
  12. Re-enter the same PIN to confirm it.
  13. Touch OK to enable the feature.
  14. To automatically disable or turn off Private mode when your phone screen turns off, touch the slider next to Auto off.
  • When Private mode is enabled, you can start selecting contents to hide in your device.

How to Hide Private Contents in your Galaxy S6 Edge+

After turning on Private mode, you can start hiding confidential images, videos, music, voice recordings, and other sensitive files saved to your phone.

Note: In this example, we will select a picture to hide with private mode enabled on your device.

  1. Touch Apps from the Home screen.
  2. Touch Gallery to access your phone’s gallery app.
  3. Touch an album to select it.
  4. Touch and hold a picture to select it. When the picture is selected, you should see a checkmark on it.
  5. Touch More to view more options.
  6. Scroll to and touch Move to Private.

The selected picture will then be moved to a private, hidden location.

How to Enable Safe Mode on your Galaxy S6 Edge+

Booting your phone into Safe Mode is among the most commonly used workarounds to troubleshoot whether downloaded or third-party apps are causing problems on your device. Only the basic system software will be available while using safe mode. In case you haven’t tried it yet, here’s how to activate safe mode on your S6 Edge plus.

  1. Power off your phone completely.
  2. Press and hold the Power/Lock key for about 2 to 3 seconds to turn it back on.
  3. Press and hold the Volume down key when the Samsung logo displays. Keep holding the key until you are prompted with the lock screen.
  4. On the lock screen, you should see the Safe Mode label in the lower left corner. That indicates safe mode is activated.
  • To unlock the screen, swipe the screen in any direction. Otherwise, enter your unlock screen method (if applicable).
  1. If you’re done using Safe mode, press and hold the Power/Lock key to restart your device and exit safe mode.
  2. Touch Restart to continue.

Note: You may need to press and hold the Power/Lock key and Volume down key simultaneously, to restart your device.

  1. Touch Restart to confirm.

Your phone will then get back to normal mode after the restart.

How to use Easy Mode on your Galaxy S6 Edge Plus

There are two Home screen modes supported by your mobile device – the Standard mode and Easy mode. Easy mode is used to configure your Home screen to offer a more simple experience. This feature is best for first-time smartphone users.

Here’s how to activate Easy Mode on your phone:

  1. Touch Apps from the Home screen.
  2. Touch Settings.
  3. Touch Personal to get to its menu options.
  4. Scroll to and touch Easy Mode to continue.
  5. Touch Easy Mode to enable the feature.
  • When enabled, you can start using your device with a simpler home screen layout and straight forward app interactions.
  1. Touch Done.

Easy mode will now be activated across your phone’s screens and menus.

How to disable Easy Mode on your Galaxy S6 Edge+

All your current settings and customizations applied to Standard mode are saved once you activate Easy Mode on your device. These settings will be available once you return to Standard mode. Follow these steps to restore your customizations and settings as to how they were before you enable Easy mode.

  1. Go to the Home screen.
  2. Swipe to the left.
  3. Touch Settings.
  4. Touch Personal to continue.
  5. Scroll to and touch Easy Mode.
  6. Touch Standard Mode.
  7. Touch Done.

Your device will now return to Standard mode.

How to enable Power Saving modes on your Galaxy S6 Edge+

Power saving modes will limit your phone’s performance to conserve battery. There are two power saving modes you can use on your S6 Edge+ namely, the Power saving mode and Ultra power saving mode.

You can set your device to activate Power saving mode automatically or manually.

Here’s how to manually set your phone to use Power saving mode and reduce battery consumption:

  1. Touch Apps from the Home screen.
  2. Touch Settings.
  3. Touch the System tab.
  4. Scroll to and touch Battery.
  5. Touch Power saving mode.
  6. To enable Power saving mode, toggle the slider from OFF to ON.
  7. Touch Start power saving.
  8. Touch to select any of the available options, including Immediately, At 5% battery power, At 15% battery power, At 20% battery power, or At 50% battery power.

How to enable Ultra Power Saving Mode on your S6 Edge+

With Ultra power saving mode enabled on your device, you can get the most life out of your battery by switching your device’s screen to grayscale and turning off nonessential applications. This feature is especially important when your battery is running low or when you would need a long time until you can charge your device. Here’s how to activate this feature on your phone:

  1. Touch Apps from the Home screen.
  2. Touch Settings.
  3. Swipe the headings to the left to view more Settings tabs.
  4. Touch System.
  5. Touch Battery.
  6. Touch Ultra power saving mode.
  7. Touch the slider to toggle it ON.
  8. If prompted with the terms and conditions, mark the checkbox next to agree to the Terms and conditions and then touch Agree to proceed.
  9. To make up to three more apps available, tap the Plus (+) icon.
  • Among the applications that are automatically available in Ultra power saving mode include the Phone, Messages, and Internet
  1. To adjust network connections, sound, and display settings in Ultra power saving mode, touch More then select Settings.

Ultra power saving mode is now activated. You should see your phone running with a simple Home screen and a limited number of usable applications, allowing you to save power. With Ultra power saving enabled, you still can receive calls and texts for up to 24 hours even if you’re down to a 10 percent charge.

Note: Settings and screens available may vary depending on your wireless service provider and software version.

To turn off Ultra power saving mode, simply touch More from the Home screen and then touch Turn off Ultra power saving mode.

How to use Airplane Mode on your Galaxy S6 Edge+

Turning on Airplane mode will disconnect your phone from all networks, preventing you to make calls, send or receive messages, or access the Internet. Other connectivity features like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are also disabled automatically, when Airplane mode is activated. You can turn these features back on either in Settings or on the notification panel after enabling Airplane mode.

Here’s how to enable and use Airplane mode on your device, when necessary.

  1. Touch Apps from the Home screen.
  2. Touch Settings.
  3. Touch Airplane mode.
  4. Toggle the ON/OFF slider to enable Airplane mode.
  • Alternatively, you can enable or disable Airplane mode using your phone’s notification panel quick settings menu. Just drag down the status bar and tap Airplane mode, then select Turn on to enable the feature.
  • Another way to do this is through the Power key. Simply press and hold the Power key, touch Airplane mode, and then select Turn on.

While your phone is in Airplane mode, you still can use other features and services such as play music, watch videos, or use other apps.
