Hangouts 5.0 update could be available today with a revamped design

Google Hangouts

With today being Wednesday (as in, Update Wednesday), there’s speculation that #Google might officially send out the #Hangouts 5.0 update for Android devices. This update will change the design to a great extent and also bring forth some nifty features that should make usage a lot more streamlined and better.

GIFs should start working better on Hangouts now, although Google did enable support for this previously. Messages will load faster and the overall lag has been reduced to a great extent. So if you’re a user of Hangouts, make sure you keep an eye on that notifications bar for a pending update.

We must reiterate that not all users will get the update right away, so maintain patience if you’ve not received an update. Also, this word comes from an industry source and Google is yet to confirm it, so don’t be surprised if the rollout is postponed.

Interestingly, iOS users have already received the Hangouts 5.0 update some days ago with another bug patching update being sent out subsequently. We can only hope that Google was saving the best for the last by delaying the rollout for Android users.
