#BlackBerry is almost ready to bring its new #Priv smartphone to the markets. And in anticipation of that, the company has already started releasing device specific applications on the Google Play Store. Of course, none of these apps are compatible with other Android devices. However, this gives us a very good understanding of what BlackBerry wants to achieve with the Priv and its apps.
Also, offering apps on the Play Store usually means that updates can be rolled out quicker to them as well. Apps like BlackBerry Launcher as well as the BlackBerry Camera and a bundle of other apps are currently listed on Google’s app hub. Unfortunately, since these are BlackBerry specific apps, no other device will be compatible with them.
The BlackBerry Priv is already up on pre-order for $699, so you can place an order for the smartphone if you’re interested. It comes with a 5.4 inch Quad HD display, an 18-megapixel camera on the back, a 2-megapixel camera on the front, the hexa core Snapdragon 808 chipset, 32GB of internal storage, 3GB of RAM, a 3,410 mAh battery and Android 5.1 Lollipop.
