Android nabbed 66.9% of the U.S. marketshare by the end of August: Report

According to new data gathered by Kantar WorldPanel ComTech, #Android saw a marketshare of 66.9% in the 3-month period ended August 2014. Interestingly, #iOS is said to have seen the lowest marketshare since August 2014 in the same duration. This however is being attributed to the fact that most Apple fans were waiting for the release of the iPhone 6s in September, so it was almost like the calm before the storm.

iOS overall had a marketshare of 28.5% in the U.S. which is a drop of 2.1% from the same period last year. While iOS failed to pick up momentum, Android OEMs made the best of it and dominated the U.S. markets with their offerings.

It will be interesting to see how these figures look now that Apple has already released the iPhone 6s and the 6s Plus in the global markets. Marketshare figures are constantly changing depending on the market situation and based on the devices that are launched every year.
