Wondering how the Xperia Z5 Premium won’t be a battery hog with its 4K screen? Here’s how

Xperia Z5 Premium

While it’s quite fascinating to see the new #Sony #XperiaZ5Premium releasing with a jaw-dropping 4K resolution mobile display, many were wondering as to how the company will manage to keep the battery consumption at bay.

It is now learned that Sony will only use the full 4K resolution of the smartphone while viewing media content. But if you’re running more menial tasks like placing a call or reading a message, the phone will resort to using 1080p resolution instead.

This way, the phone can be running as a 1080p device when you’re not using some graphics heavy content and you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. This is a very clever feature utilized by Sony and tells us that the 3,430 mAh battery running on the device should easily last a day unless you decide to watch plenty of media content throughout the day.

Here’s what the company had to say in an official statement – “Xperia Z5 Premium features a 4K display with a resolution of 3840×2160 pixels based on SID Standard and enables all video and image content to be enjoyed in 4K resolution. All other content is displayed at 1080P or lower resolution in order to optimise the performance and battery stamina for this device, ensuring you can enjoy the 4K resolution when you need it most.”

The smartphone should be available in most global markets before the end of next¬†month, so there’s still some time left before the Japanese manufacturer plans a wider release of the handset.
