S5 Battery Not Charging
Problem: Last night it took forever to charge and it saids it charging. But a message always pops up say to use the charge that came with the phone and I am. It never did this before it always took 1 hour or less to charge. Today it saids it was charging but it’s not. It shows the same message I really worried I did something with my phone.
Solution: The message that appears is your phone warning you that either you are not using the charger that came with your phone (a third party charger) or that the current output that the charger is providing the phone is out of specifications.
If you are using the original charger of your phone try to replace the USB cord as this usually gets damaged easily.
You should also inspect the charging port of your phone for any signs of dirt or lint which usually interferes with the charging process. Clean if necessary with a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol.
To eliminate any software related problems that may be causing this problem I suggest you backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
If the problem still persists then you should try getting using a new battery on your phone as the one you are using may already be faulty.
S5 Takes Too Long To Charge
Problem: My device was working fine until yesterday. the issue that started out of no where is that the phone takes a really long time to charge when its on, if I use the phone when plugged in the battery still drains. if I charge it when its off I can get it up to 85% but no more. today I started getting messages to use the original cable but that it all I use. I read some of the other posts and tried doing the steps listed there but it has not worked. I booted into safe mode and have the same problem, I cleared the cache, still have the problem, any other ideas?
Solution: Try replacing the USB cord you use in charging the phone as this usually gets damaged easily. Make sure to use an original Samsung cord just to be on the safe side. You should also check the charging port of your phone for any signs of dirt or lint. Clean the port if necessary using a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol.
In most cases such as this it is the battery that is the main culprit. If after doing the troubleshooting steps listed above the issue still remains then you should try using a new battery on your phone.
S5 Generic Wall Charger Not Working
Problem: I have a generic wall charger that I’ve been using without issues and all of a sudden it started telling me that the charger was incompatible with my phone and to prevent damage, it’s stopped charging. Ideas/suggestions? Thank you!
Solution: The wall charger that you have may already be faulty. What’s happening here is that it is charging the phone battery but the current it is providing is not within the acceptable range set by Samsung for the device.
You can try changing the USB cord you are using to charge the phone to see if this is causing the problem. You can also clean the charging port of your phone if you spot any dirt or lint on it.
If the issue persists then I suggest you get a Samsung charger or a better quality charger that has been certified to work with your phone.
S5 Draining Battery Quickly
Problem: My phone is draining battery really very fast. But the problem do sent stop there. The charging takes 40 mins to go from zero to 60%, and from there to get to 100% it takes 2.30 hours. This is when I charge it in switched off mode, it takes about 5 to 6 hours for complete charging when the phone is switched on.your advice is awaited in high regards.
Solution: What you should do first in this case is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This eliminates the possibility of a corrupt data or a glitch in the software that may be causing this problem.
Once the factory reset has finished do not install any apps yet in your phone. Observe if the issue still remains.
If you are still having the same problem even after a factory reset then I suggest you get a new battery for your phone as the one you are using may already be faulty.
S5 Turns Off On Its Own
Problem: Hello, first of all thank you so much for having this page to help everyone facing troubles with their android phones. My problem started this morning, I was browsing my phone this morning when it had 2% battery left, I clicked on the lock screen button and suddenly this glitch line appeared and my phone turned off. Initially I thought it was due to the battery turned off but when I plugged it in no action happened, so I took out the battery and put it in again and suddenly the phone worked by itself. Now the problem keeps repeating, sometimes when i click the lock screen button it shuts down until I remove the battery and put it in again. For information I changed battery today in case that was the problem but unfortunately nothing changed. Extra infos: I had my phone since a year and half, I switched from kitkat to lollipop 2 months ago, I noticed when battery is lower than 5% screen is shaky unlike before with kitkat, I charge my phone 2 to 3 times per day. Please i’d like your help, Thank you so much
Solution: This issue could be caused by a glitch in your phone data. Try wiping the cache partition of your phone first and see if this resolves the problem. If the issue still occurs after this then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
